Comms: FCC - don't use amateur / public bands to "commit crimes"

In case you missed it, the FCC issued an advisory Sunday to amateur / public accesible band users to not use them to commit crimes. They are apparently worried about people using radios to coordinate the terror attacks this week (of which there is little to no evidence).

Have to wonder if this is a precursor to the expansion of 1st Amendment crackdowns into radio communications.

No. Only the local broadcast stations that carry them.

Also cable-only / internet-only outlets are not licensed or FCC regulated. There are a few business regulations on cable companies, but not on the networks they carry.

Ok well then no surprise the FCC didn't issue memorandum reminding individual license stations that carry broadcast network programming/propaganda that airwaves are not to be used in commission of any crimes. Better?

Because telling criminals not to do criminal things has worked oh so well in the past. Especially since there are few if any consequences for illegal behavior anymore.
