Comparisons of SIG P365, 365XL and the Glock 43X, 48

I had been thinking the XL version of the P365 was just a me too response to the 43/48 and Shield longslide. Seeing this however and it seems to hot a carry sweet spot. My only concern is that if I bought one it might render my Shield and G19 pointless.

Just saw the video. Looks like with the XL, they fixed the primer drag issues.

As for you @Podmonkey if you bought one , I don’t think it would replace your current system . The Shield is ultra reliable and thin. Perfect carry. Better than a single stack Glock. Your Glock 19 holds more and is ultra reliable as well. It’s grip angle also makes it point more naturally. That’s why I believe you say you shoot it better. The Warrior Poet had a video out there that showed when he presented the Sig he had to dip the barrel down slightly for the front sight to be on target. When he does the same on a Glock with a quick draw, it’s already on target.

Also, if you get that Ruger PCC, you’ll have magazines for it.

I do believe I mentioned that it did come down to more of a training issue (yes the glock grip angel is the correct grip angel, but he is already vested in glock so to toss in a 365, not the XL this is pre XL, in place of his 43 would be more work than its worth)

Well the P365 series are pretty much the same width as the Shield so getting 10 or 12 rounds into a similarly thin gun is very appealing. I can carry the Shield pretty much indefinitely(I'm sitting in the recliner right now and I can't even tell its there) and it's super lo-pro non printing nature gives me piece of mind in potentially gun hostile environments. Ot would be mixed to have those advantages with nearly double the capacity. Especially since I don't typically carry an extra mag.

I still really like the form factor of the P365 for a 10+1 subcompact. I'm reading a lot of reports where units made in 2019 are going thousands of rounds without an issue.

If I can ever get a carry permit, I'd like to get one of these pistols.

I am liking the XL version myself. Seems like the perfect size for a carry gun. Being in PA I can enjoy the extra 2 rounds also. 12 rounds of 9mm ain't anything to sneeze at. Just one round shy of the original wonder 9.

I guess the capacity would be the deciding factor. Is 11 rounds worth the purchase compared to 8 rounds? Can an extra magazine carried in the pocket negate the loss of 3 rounds compared to the 365 with no extra magazine? Is 8 rounds enough for self defense?

It would be totally dependent on how you view things. No right or wrong answer.

Assuming the same reliability and equal concealabilty more rounds is always, always better. Worth the purchase price to me for sure. However the jury is still out on the reliability still. The Shield is an ace in that category.

Yes but if its thinner and easier to carry and you shoot it just as well and get that itch to bump up 3 more rounds, the option to do so is good (vs say the G48 that has 10 rounds and ..... 10 rounds)

I don't like the concept of extended magazines for carry guns. The size butt is whats important for concealed carry so if you increase the length of the butt you may as well give me a longer slide to go with it. I think the Glock 19X/45 is the stupidest thing ever. Speaking of which when it comes to extended mags Glock trumps em all with their 33 rounder. I actually tried carrying the 33 round a spare for a day I an IWB mag caddy. Standing up it's okay but sitting is murder.

Not that it would be for me specifically but for the actual reasoning behind the 19x and 45 makes perfect sense.. Military and LEO and those in vehicles, having a full size grip (and the 17 round mags) but the shorter slide works better with body armor and OWB holsters than say a 34.

And I can carry my G17 with no issues but I will say that the slide can poke me and put more pressure on me compared to a G19...

I dont believe so. And I would agree with the last part. But even in a LOE capacity the 45 makes perfect sense.

Not to mention some agencies are allowing their officers to run compensators (whether or not someone personally sees the benefit there that's a whole different can of worms) but with the 19 slide that puts the gun at a 34 length but gives the 17/34 gip size vs on a 17 that's about the size of a 17L... and plenty if agency's are running 34/35s.


But back on to the main topic

I want to trust the 365, I would trust the XL, I hope this forces other companies to figure out how to jam more rounds in a gun just like glock did back in the 80s.

If I lived in a free state and had the choice of s 48 or XL and wasnt already again heavily invested in glock than the XL would of course take the win over the 48

Back when I was in sidearms were only issued to Officers, Staff NCO’s, Medics and Corpsman, and machine gun and Anti-armor teams. Probably other teams too like snipers and Recon units but regular grunts weren’t issued them. After Iraq, that all changed. Everyone was issued a rifle. Regular grunts got M16’s like normal and the others got M4’s. I believe the sidearm was optional.

The 48 is the ideal NY carry gun I think.

I prefer the 26 due to the shorter grip. I was able to conceal that better than an XDS with a 9 rd extended magazine which would be the same size as a 48.

Personally I dont notice any real difference between the 48 and the 19, I'll stick with a 19 all day but I am also committed to red dots and the RMR sits better in the 19

Every time I think it’s gonna be ok to buy a 365 of any variety and trust it, something else goes wrong. There’s no way this could be bad luck. It’s a damn shame because I’ve wanted one since they came out. At this point I feel it could be nothing more than a range toy if I picked one up.
