Regardless of his specific views, you could’ve seen this coming a mile away. Cops cannot speak out on issues while in uniform and on duty. I’d be shocked to hear of any department existing that doesn’t specifically ban this activity.
I know someone who got in trouble for saying Trump 2016 while pushing back pro-Trump protestors in front of Trump Tower.

Hahahaha. Reminds me of when my son was working an OT shift at Trump Tower in early 2017. Someone asked him how long this was going to last (street being closed). He said "next 8 years".
He hated working Manhattan.
That was great overtime though while it lasted. Man I wish I could’ve retired then. A shot of that now for a months and I’d definitely be out.
Manhattan sucks. Even before I worked there, I learned quickly how bad the protests were. And they are all professionals. Lots of paid agitators that will take on any cause for a pay check.
The 7th where I worked is the mass arrest processing center. I can’t tell you how many times I recognized the same perps who had been left, right, center getting arrested at various protests.

He purposely chose North Bronx in the academy. Said he wanted to be a real cop, not a tourist guide. He said he'd get more experience in 5 years than someone who spent their entire career in Manhattan. He was pissed when he got a new Lt in his 3rd year and he had more felony arrests than she did.
Good luck and stay safe but he’s nuts in this climate working there. In some ways it’s easier mentally because it’s perp central so who cares, but in most ways it’s the worst place possible to be. I started in a shithole but back when we were allowed to police. Saw the tides turning and left. Total cupcake now and I love it.

I am not saying that he did this for the money either. I support the words that he spoke in the first video. He pushed his opinion very well.

He said alot of things people wish cops would say. There is a reason they dont say it. I wish he didn’t say it stayed on the job and quietly did the right thing. He could have spread his message through the locker room. If the Governors goal was to suppress his message he just made it that much louder .

He was fired for standing on a principle which was initially applauded as a positive message, then when political pressure happened, was walked back and replaced with "take it down". Kudos to him for standing on his convictions... if more had the resolve to match their personal beliefs things could go differently.

Only in this political climate are good people like Officer Anderson persecuted for their convictions and support for the Constitution. His message was in no way negative or defaming his agency or the local/state officials; it was an overwhelmingly positive message.
Regardless of if he did it in his uniform and while on duty or violated department social media policy, this is a message that needed to be said while he was in uniform to so it would resonate with the public on a different level than if he was in his civvies.
I hope he takes the agency, city and governor to court and sues the balls of them.

NO, it's very few of us are stupid enough to get into our RMP's, display our shield, patch and full uniform and equipment while on duty, and make statements implying that we won't do our jobs.

Actually you need to pressure your union officials to make these sort of statements publicly on behalf of all the officers they represent.
They can fire an officer, but not the whole union. That's the whole point of a union.
