Saw the video... He didn't kill or hurt his family. The guy was clearly having a mental breakdown. Police should have approached this incident differently. This is exactly why police reform is necessary. We have cops going in with guns to deal with mentally unhealthy people.

I was just reading several comments. Some from teachers saying they deal with with mental illness everyday and would have just restrained him and taken the knife away. People are out of their minds.

To be fair, nobody should be calling the cops unless they think someone needs to be either fined, locked up, or killed.

Because that's all they're *supposed* to be doing.

If you want some mental health counseling, call someone else.

Calling the cops is saying "this guy needs to be in a cage, do whatever you have to do to put him there".

Expecting another outcome is like complaining that you called the fire department and now your carpet is wet.

Absolutely. Why don't all cops get the same training that hollywood actors get? In movies the actors always make precision shots with narrow windows and with pin point accuracy. Duh. The answer is so obvious I can't believe no one has thought of it before.

We will never really solve mental health problems in this country until we remove the state's legal power over people who want to get treatment. With unconstitutional stuff like the unSAFE Act in existence, it discourages people from seeking help on the grounds it could be used against them. You can't even go to a doctors office without the usual gestapo question of "Do you feel depressed?," which we all know is cover to deny you your rights.

Bring back doctor / patient confidentiality. Get the government out of the mental health industry.

Of all the police shootings that prompted protests I can't think of one more justified than this. There is no way the cop is even charged in a sham proceeding. He has incontrovertible video evidence justifying it. Even more people will realize these protests are not about truth.
