Does anybody know counties that issue Unrestricted permits in NY?
Depends. I got unrestricted in Wayne right off the bat in 2018. Wrote him a nice little letter and included some pics of me in tiger briefs. If you live in bumfuck upstate your odds are good. If you live in manhattan forget it.When living upstate would I have to write a letter to a judge asking for unrestricted? And if so would my military background and firearm courses qualify for unrestricted?
Firearm courses are normally what help thw restricted become unrestricted. When living upstate would I have to write a letter to a judge asking for unrestricted? And if so would my military background and firearm courses qualify for unrestricted?

I can speak for my county and that’s Erie county and yes you would likely get unrestricted right off the bat. When living upstate would I have to write a letter to a judge asking for unrestricted? And if so would my military background and firearm courses qualify for unrestricted?

Right now, no counties are issuing any kind of permit or amendment. During normal times though I think it's possible to get an unrestricted permit from any upstate county. Sounds like it depends mostly on the judge you get than anything else. Even Albany county, which is probably one of the most anti gun counties in upstate, has been known to issue unrestricted. Mostly what I hear is having to apply for an amendment in a year or two to get unrestricted, usually after taking the concealed carry course. I know some people who got unrestricted first time though. One had a good reason, not something a typical person would have, another just said "because I want it" and got lucky.
I’m thinking about moving upstate I’m not sure which county yet but I can say I’m leaning more into Orange County. I currently reside in Suffolk county which doesn’t issue unrestricted pistol permits at all. They also denied me from getting a bolt action AR pistol on my permit so yeah that’s why I asked. Suffolk are not doing the permit process at the moment. Why being so vague? You'll get a more direct and helpful response by asking exactly what county you reside in and will apply. Otherwise your question is trollish...
Anecdotal... Please provide verification that counties are not specifically issuing permits, of any kind...

Every one, with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions, when proper cause exists. Get busy writing.Does anybody know counties that issue Unrestricted permits in NY?
When asked my licensing officer and a county judge that I work with they said that there’s only about 4-9 currently unrestricted licenses at the moment in the whole county, most of them are judges, attorneys and one dude has a legit unrestricted license because his life was being threatened and have all the paperwork to back it up and I best believe he shoots competition. This is what I was told. I tried getting myself a fully carry but my licensing officer pretty much told me to go fuck myself and that no one get one it’s only restricted they permit. To make the deal even sweeter I told him that I’m changing jobs in the marines that I’ll become Military Police and that if I did 10 years ill be protected under LEOSA to carry and SAFE-ACT and Suffolk themselves said..... no NY doesn’t recognize that.Though seldom, Suffolk does issue unrestricted. I know somebody who has one, and I've seen it firsthand.
Awesome.Come on up to Orange. I will sell you my house AND give you a reference for your permit. Hell, I might even leave something behind.
