Wow no replies to this? I went there for my first Yote hunt. I didn't get any, hunters there were snagging pheasants. I saw a few rabbits. A lot of open field, and heavy tree lines at some points. I saw dead deer on my ride up there, caliber of choice appeared to be 4 wheeled automatic.

Dude if you need a place to hunt just ask.
If your thinking of opening weekend its probably a bit heavy with hunters for the little land left available over there
Opening Day rifle I hunt at my uncle's place in Schoharie, but my friend lives literally around the block from this WMA and I know there are tons of deer in the area. Unfortunately, last monday I shot one with my bow and couldn't find it. According to him, he heard the coyotes going nuts the next night so I guess they found her.
We did see one coyote during the middle of the day but he wouldn't come in for a shot. Probably gonna head back up there in December some time to try it out again. Can we bait for yotes?
I originally asked because we were gonna bowhunt on the state land, but then he got permission to hunt a field behind his 7 acres. Tons of does and he saw a buck yesterday. God I wish I could move to a place where I could hunt my backyard. I can't move that far from my kids though.

Baiting
It is illegal to hunt with the aid of bait, or over any baited area when hunting big game, upland game birds, turkey or waterfowl.
Nothing says you can't bait Coyotes.

I heard the Coyotes go crazy up there when I howled but they never came to say hello. I definitely want to give it another go.

I used to hunt turkey there a few years ago. I set my decoys on the edge of the field and took a spot up against a tree and heard something pacing back and forth behind me for some time, didn't want to move in case it was a turkey. I was surprised to see a coyote move out from behind me into my decoy spread, he was hunting my turkey decoys! Was opening day in May, after coyote season was over. Didn't take long for him to catch my scent once he was down wind and took off in a hurry.
I ended up hunting at my friend's place nearby and we saw a coyote more than once in the middle of the day just hanging in the middle of the field we were hunting the edge of.
It's Putnam. Do you hunt coyote with shotgun?
