I have very mixed feelings about this topic. Weed is illegal but seems to be very available so the laws are not preventing people from using it. So, at some level I understand the idea for making it legal and generating tax revenue from it.

Intoxicants kill a lot of people every year so why make them more available? Alcohol kills more people every year than guns and I dont hear anything about changing alcohol regulations, but a lot about gun restrictions....

Wanna make dope legal? By all means, do it. Do not make the tax payers fund any part of it. None what so ever. When they were talking about this a couple of years back, Cumhole was talking about a new office within the State. Kind of like the NY State dope cops. That will cost a lot of money. My point was (and I thought it was clear), that things that cause more deaths like drugs are becoming legal and guns that cause less are becoming illegal (more restrictions).

I am by no means an expert of the constitution but the 2A is very specifically spelled out, but is there anything that says we have the right to smoke anything?

Yes it is , liberty is the ability to live your life how you see fit provided you are not harming anyone, and from what I hear pot makes a good path to being happy..
What the constitution does do is restrict the government so they can't do something as tyrannical as making a plant illegal.

They amended the constitution to ban alcohol, it was such a bad decision it was amended again, this is the correct way . Congress has no right to pass any drug laws , this is not a democracy.
