Gov. Andrew Cuomo will yank the busts of two Confederate generals from CUNY’s Hall of Fame for Great Americans in the Bronx, he announced Wednesday night.

“Robert E. Lee and Stonewall Jackson will be removed from the CUNY hall of great Americans because New York stands against racism,” Cuomo tweeted. “There are many great Americans, many of them New Yorkers worthy of a spot in this great hall. These two confederates are not among them.”

Busts of Lee and Jackson — best known for leading a seditious war against the Union — are featured in the hall alongside prominent black Americans such as inventor George Washington Carver and baseball great Jackie Robinson. Lee was inducted in 1900 and Jackson in 1955.

Cuomo’s announcement comes as municipalities across the country are removing statues dedicated to the Confederacy in response to the violent Virginia white power rally last week where a neo-Nazi rammed his car into a crowd of anti-racism protesters, killing one and injuring 19 others.

On a side note, in the 4th grade, Catholic school, I had to do a biographical book report. I chose to do it on Robert E Lee. Even then, as a 4th grader in the late 70's , I knew what a true American, leader, soldier and good hearted person torn by his love for his country and homeland General Lee was. Andy can never comprehend such great qualities nor achieve even a fraction of that.

General R. E. Lee was well respected in the North as much as the South, he was not a racist! He was Superintendent of West Point, was offered top level command in the North prior to resigning and going home to defend his State or Virginia. All these morons as associating the people who fought that war with the racists/lunatics of contemporary times... It's all apples and oranges and laughably ridiculous except for the fever these Progressive Liberal tree hugging criminal migrant we need a new cause this week morons apply to it all. It has to stop! It won't though... It's a welcomed distraction that these politicians recognize will keep people's minds off the real problems as long as they can keep the flames stoked!

And yes, anyone slightly paying attention can see Cuomo's obvious angle as he tries to puff himself up in the national spotlight. He is a joke.

Wasn't Stonewall a hero of the war of 1812 ?? As Trump said...what about ALL the other slave owners prominent in US history. Soon George and others will be gone and supplanted by LGBT forefounders.
