Hidden deep in the Governor’s budget are two other proposals that will do anything but make college more affordable. First, the Governor’s plan allows SUNY to hike tuition over five years, at the same time it claims to make that same tuition “free.” Second, the Governor’s plan will punish the state’s private colleges and universities by proposing to take away existing aid if they increase tuition by just $500 in one year alone.

I am ever frustrated by the the restrictions of language that cannot hope to convey the rage and revulsion I have for the thing named Cuomo.
I can only say that his bumbling arrogance, utter incompetence and incorrigible corruption has earned my inveterate emnity.
He has driven me from my home, my family. His economic ineptitude condemned me to a life of literal poverty. The entire time from when I returned home from military service till I moved out of NY a year ago I never earned above the poverty line. This year I cleared over 50k. With the blackest heart I will hate, completely and beyond my ability to fully express, Andrew Cuomo till the end of my days!

They are probably just being lied to and are to niece to know the difference.

Perfect example is all our stupid DMV fee increases set for this year. The dumb shit that money will be used to fund people will think is great because they will think the money just comes from no where

I've been an educated consumer for almost 60 years. One thing I've learned along the way is, you get what you pay for. I'm quite sure his 'free' college will increase the 1st grade literacy the constituents who use it will reap. :banghead:

BINGO, I have sat in plenty of lecture halls with empty seats, if students are qualified US citizens (of any age) let them in, or put a webcam on the wall and broadcast it on the "internets."

I have NO problem taking aid from private colleges:
1) they are liberal bastions,
2) they overcharge because they can,
3) why should your hard-earned tax dollars go to some have-not priss who wants to go to a college they cannot afford?,
4) BUT if the money goes to SUNY, they better be audited or they will become like public schools, the more you give, they more they spend.

You know, while it is typical Cuomo hidden truth, In this case I stomach it due to this; a true free ride for all kids would cost taxpayers hundreds of millions. At least here, its less tax dollars being spent. Look at it like this, if it were totally free, a certain and probably large number of kids would go simply to party and eventually drop out. This at least lets a student prove they should be in college due to having some skin in the game. Personally, I had to put my kids through college myself and through loans. Yeah, it would have been nice if it were cheaper but, I spent a lot of effort teaching my kids the importance of education and to take it seriously. Yes, I was prepared if one of them was better off going a different direction but, my kids listened well and earned very good scholarships. I have helped them beyond that but they will have a few loans. It gives them skin in the game and realize, hey, I am paying for this, its important. How many kids that got a full free ride on the state, just because, would come through the college experience successfully and the same appreciation?

Cuomo is still a con making 'free education' look like something it is not......

You can easily get a free education.

Look at MIT open courseware for instance. MIT OpenCourseWare | Free Online Course Materials That is what honest people who want free education do.

People aren't paying exorbitant prices for an education, they are paying for diplomas, which at their best are proof of an education.

All of higher education in this country has become a massive boondoggle. Separate the 2 functions (educating people and certifying that they are educated) and the whole industry will collapse.

Roll it into government and you'll find out that $500 screwdrivers are a bargain.

That's what they count on. They won't realize it and he will get re-elected or try to run for president before the failure is realized. People are too stupid to think for a minute. Look at moms demand action twitter account. All the articles are misleading head lines. I'd give you some examples, but they banned me for pointing out facts and turning liberals to the dark side of seeing guns aren't so bad. I was never rude, swore, or threatened anyone ever.
