What was a new angle in this for me is that the law specifically says that the Sheriff does not have to produce evidence of fraudulent votes – just that officials failed to follow the legal procedure. Then his investigator showed evidence of the Election Board officials admitting they intentionally ignored the procedure.
No “standing” required here.

They have them dead to rights on violating the process.
Hopefully there's a hefty conspiracy charge thrown in as well.

Let’s see I came up with 355 Nursing Homes in Wisconsin times 3.5 years jail time per location, that would be 1,243.5 years in total per Wisconsin Elections Commission member.

Need to take electronic voting machines and throw them in the streets. The only reason they exist is to hack the vote. This is not rocket science. We tally numbers up. They are not needed.

If they were open source hardware and software, and designed with security and auditability first and foremost.

There is absolutely no excuse for a voting machine to need to run a full microsoft OS.

Hell, I would even be OK with a block chain based voting system. You register to vote ahead of time (for each and every election). You are issued a token at the time of registration. You return the token with your vote. You can vote using any app you feel like. For the people without smart phones or PCs, you can vote at any public library, or we can still have voting stations manned with the usual volunteers to assist.

The best part of that is that people could choose the software that they personally trust, and would not be forced to use some questionably proprietary solution.

Results could be tallied real time. Voting ends at 9pm, results are available at 9:01 and the talking heads are already discussing it at 9:02.
There would be no possibility of "finding" thousands of votes in the middle of the night.

I want secure and auditable elections that don't require me to "trust" anyone in particular. Especially not 3rd party proprietary vendors or partisan election officials.

A property designed electronic system can be much better than a paper one.



The real difficulty is balancing a publicly auditable system with a secret ballot. You cannot have a perfect system for both, but you can get much much better than what we have.
