Police spokesman Brandon Maynard says Jones told police his daughters were running around when his 6-year-old daughter accidentally knocked a handgun off the bed. It hit the floor, causing the gun to fire. Both Jones and the 6-year-old were shot.
Interesting. Not many modern, functional, pistols will go off if dropped. So, did he have a loaded single action revolver sitting around with the hammer cocked? Did he have a loaded series 70 1911 sitting on his bed with the hammer cocked and no safety engaged? It could not, after all, have been any pistol with a firing pin block. So...WTF did this guy really do?

Depending on how tidy things were it could easily have had something snag on the trigger as it fell off the bed.

I had a Ballester-Molina .45 that fired when I went to clear the chambered round - I had barely moved the slide to the rear. Luckily and intentionally pointed in a safe direction.
Disassembled it, and the sear was broken - left 2 unequal length sharp points, one of which would barely engage the trigger. Move the slide, smack the weapon and boom.

this is what happens when your kids talk at school and that's what there teaching now a days ... speak up .. snitch .. on every little thing ... let blow it up to a pandemic .. .. this could have been a bicycle learning experience with a crash and skinned knees , simple first aid and we would have no word on the boo boos .. but a gun .,.let everyone freak out .. dad was a mad man .. i'm glad i have no kids but i do love my friend that have them and man the joy i have spending time with them ,.. my Italian mode would have me in trouble these days dealing with this crap what schools are doing and some other govt officials just looking to get $$$$ and a reason put the person down .. while we have brazen idiot snowflakes rioting and not a dam thing done .. they need there free safe space to vent ..
