.475 A&M Magnum
If I hadn't modded my M&P15-22 so crazy I would have been content to stay with that.I'm assuming they keep bolt mass light, and a bit harsh to work with all variety ammo, and barrel length/supressor choices.

Yeah, you know, I can understand the calibrating and adding on it takes to make a conversion bolt that is supposed to work with a 5.56 bbl into a dedicated 22lr bolt. What I don't get is why there isn't a bolt group like the conversion bolt that is meant for a 22lr set up and isn't just gtg with a 22lr bbl.
Maybe check out a Tippman. I gave them a hard look. It's not polymer like the 15-22, and you won't have to mess around with tuning like you would building from scratch.I was kind of surprised by that, too. I figured anyone who wants a .22 version only wants that option for cheaper range time, but still they still want the higher fps of the .223/5.56 stuff. So being able to run cheap ammo in your main rig with a conversion bolt kit vs a dedicated .22 is more appealing since you’re not restricted to one round size.
It looks like the M&P .22 is reasonably priced, but I’ll just stick with my Savage .22 that I already love.
I've had issues with bca in the past. I don't write them off, but seems their qc can be spotty. If I read enough positive reviews on their products, I'll bite. Just so happens I'll be buying a bear creek side charging 7.62 upper for my next build.Unless I missed it, no where did I read about anyone buying a Bear Creek Arsenal .22 or .22 Mag Upper:
I bought the magnum about six months ago: worked fine right out of the Box on a conventional M4 lower.
Just got a .22LR and while I haven't test fired it (only had it a couple days) there wasn't anything I disliked about it.
The both use CMMG made magazines, for which I have an abundance of LR mags.
I have one of the Colt conversion units from the 80's that I used to carry in the Field for terminating Trash Bandits that would drag your Ruck sack away to pirate MRE's and it never gave me any problems.
If you have one with ejection problems try switching to "Standard Velocity" ammo; that cures a lot of problems with .22's especially old ones (1970's and older)

The cmmg bolt is widely in use, and with add-ons can be tuned to run as well as any other semi, and that's why I went with them. Nothing proprietary for me if I can help it.
I agree about the conversions. This thread is about dedicated 22lr builds. Yes, I used a cmmg (ceiner} conversion bolt, but swapped out the chamber adapter for a collar, and added the proper twist rate barrel, among other upgrades.I do like the CMMG conversions, and they have several options.
Biggest thing with using conversion is the Barrel twist rate and possibly bore diameter, with twist being the real culprit: .22LR is 1:16 and even old school .223 is 1:12
I've had issues with BCA a couple times and ultimately took care of it myself. If you're assembing an AR-10 you're more likely to have "issues" than with AR-15 platforms. The 6.5CM was a bastard feeding because of the barrel extension cuts; BCA at one time had specific ammunition requirements and now their web site says "140gr." they also had accuracy issues with the first generation 6.5 barrels.
