Defensive posture changed?

Just curious if any of what's going on has made you change your standard defensive posture?

Mine has changed slightly.

I live in the country so we're pretty spread out.

Locked up my garage which is usually unlocked, put the key to the gun safe around my neck, covered basement windows, moved belt-mounted shot shell holders up to nightstand, weapon lights got new batteries.

That's it for now.

Next steps might be to move other weapons and accessories closer.

Guessing folks locations play into this. What have you done or are contemplating doing?

I'm in the same rural boat but have been taking precautions as well.

I do have a neighbor who is a heroine addict. Normally I don't lock much up. Since he's moved out here last fall I already changed some of my habits. With the riff raff that visits him on occasion I'm taking more precautions now with the latest events.

No, not really ...

All is the same, always diligent, always aware, always carrying and every room has a weapon. Never leave my house open and when outside my door, everyone is a potential threat! I assess every room I enter, it's occupants, it's layout, entrances and exits. I gauge movement and it's intent, never my back to the door... Etc., Etc... Lol

Nothing has changed except the demeanor of (others) those around me. People are looking at others suspiciously, and possibly for the first time in their life, being defensive, lol

So full disclaimer I'm on work from home status and I live in a quiet suburb.

My behavior hasn't changed, my defensive posture is still the same. (keeping doors locked even when home, carrying etc..). I am more likely now to carry extra mags. I do have all my mags loaded and plate carrier readily accessible but that's about it. Nothing different.

I am paying very close attention for any civil unrest escalation in the major urban areas. I would say my posture is still the same but my alertness has increased. I'm more vigilant.


I'll go to the next level of FAMpcon (just made that up) when I start hearing instances of crackheads and addicts increasing crime against home owners either in the country or suburbs, or any pockets of urban civil unrest. Once/if those events start to happen I will be more concerned than I am now.

Are either of those 2 events likely? Well I guess it depends how long you think this drags on for

Right now everything is pretty much status quo. Nothing different in my neighborhood except less groups of kids/parents mingling about. Now it's just a single or couple walking a dog or pushing kid in a stroller or bike ride

I loaded all mags, moved an AR downstairs and put in a central but hidden location, put a light back on my 870 which is also fully loaded now and by the bedroom door, started only carrying my larger pistols, and 2 spare mags when leaving the house. I do have a lot of ammo on hand for everything and have another 15 boxes of buckshot on the way, just because it was getting, and is now all dried up.

That's about it. Doors are always locked anyway. I wouldn't expect problems in my neighborhood but if they come I am ready.

I started carrying extra mags, haven't done that in a while. Waiting on my primary handgun to come back from Ruger in the next week, then I need to go out and zero that and also my ar's which haven't been fired yet.

Everything normal in my neighborhood for now, but I can see how things will go south quickly if this lasts a while.

Yes, started locking car doors at night, locking the house up pretty tight too, carrying extra mags as part of EDC, and have pre-staged some long guns around the house. Have not set up the claymores or machine gun nests yet though :ROFL:.
In all seriousness my wife has worked from home all week this week and has noticed a few random people that dont belong, we are semi rural and those that dont belong tend to stick out. One women, dressed in a long coat with the hood up when it was near 60 degrees, was walking slowly down the road made a u turn a few houses down then got picked up by a man in an SUV. I wasn't home for this but as you can imagine the story set off alarm bells.

All quiet here, hardly any traffic on my road. Neighbors to the east and west, not sure which ones exactly but have an idea were out banging steel at different times today, good sound to hear!
I haven't found the need to change my readiness level yet.
Locked and loaded as always.

So here's my current, ever evolving thought. Not entirely my own: When the first hospital in 'murica gets overrun, then we are truly in a spot where just about anything can happen.

I carry an extra mag, and changed my carry gun criteria slightly. Normally I rotate between pocket (P238/LCP2), Large Pocket/IWB (G26/PPS), and Full Size Shoulder+2 Extra Mags (P99), depending on the schedule. With the increased idiocy I have dropped pocket carry for a bit and go IWB if it's too warm for a jacket or my Full Sized P99 if I can wear a jacket.

I have also seen an increase in people checking their carry guns into the Correctional Facility arsenal before their shifts. We have to check them in, they get locked up, and we get them back after the shift.

Not too much in the way of changes. I have put a couple extra guns in family living space and advised my wife and son of the locations.

As for watching people, I have always watched the public pretty well, I have been paying more attention to who is around me.

Lots of Junkies and crack heads looking for an easy mark.
