I will say this- I was already an Olympic-class defensive driver but I am being even more vigilant whilst driving than normal. An extra two car lengths while moving, leaving myself space when stopped behind another vehicle in case i need to unass a position, and so forth.

Ok I want to update this thread as this pandemic plods along like a slow motion Trainwreck.
Cases continue to rise, more is closed and on lock down.
Here are a few things I've been reading on the interwebs and Google machine.
Here are some observations;
I am reading more about a run on guns and ammo
There are people looking to bug out or leave the city or urban areas. (Including a thread here on this forum with mixed responses)
By all appearances police are pretty much limiting interaction with the public and offenders are not being arrested at the same rates. More offenders are in the public. (Something I noticed even on live PD last night was they showed way more old clips and very little of the episode was actually live)
Many stores and recreation places are closed people are becoming increasingly bored and having difficulty getting things they want or crave.
Has anyone noticed any changes in their area within the past week? Have you noticed more sketchy people around? Heard any domestic incidents nearby? Any changes in your posture?

DEFCON 3....Sadly, I live on the main exit route that the urban rats would use if the riots started. I’m a half mile from NYS Thruway, we’ve been dealing with desperate people stopping for “help” for years. Isn’t the first time I’ve had to persuade the rats to get off my property....

Melbourne FL - no perceived up tick in trouble. But I did a little guns and ammo shuffle. Main G19 now wears a TLR1, housed in a Blackhawk Omnivore paddle holster and an extra mag in pouch and electronic ear protection on standby. Backup G19 now on the "war belt," 2 extra mags added along with a pair of AR15 mags, and a backup flashlight. AR now locked and loaded in the ready safe with a go bag (binocs, range finder, water snacks, gloves etc). The regular extras still where they normally hide.
Always with the SIG P365 when outside the house as usual but now with a backup mag. Travel is highly decreased anyhow . . . STFH . . . Stay The Fuck Home! Fight the Surge!

Im 200 yards from Rochester General Hospital, they set up a 6 lane, three tent CoVid triage area in the parking lot of the Wilson Health Center (or whatever it's called now) about a week ago, which had me concerned that the place may get over run if people panic. so far I have seen, maybe, 10 cars in line at any one time?
Other than that, I keep both vehicles full of fuel. My house faces south, driveway is on the west side, Garage is detached and sits back aways, but someone could sneak back there, but the dog would find them pretty fast. My service van always faces North, so the cargo doors are facing the house at all times (mostly at night) so I have a goo shot if someone tries to break in to my truck. My wifes Pick-up truck always faces south, in case of an emergency we just load up and boggy, no backing up when seconds count.
I have cameras watching the driveway (and vehicles) from the garage to the street and one watching the side door and the vehicles and the street.
I carry my LCP during the day, in the summer when doing service calls to homes I have not done business with in the past. Current customers I leave my hand guns in the safe, in my truck ( I have a gun safe through bolted to the floor of my truck) at home. I either have my Glock-22 or my S&W 629 on me at all times, I can get in my gun safe in 20 seconds in an emergency ( I have been practicing the combination for MONTHS, to see how fast I can get in it)
Both shotguns are loaded, the 30-30 and 45-70 have butt stock cartridge holders on them. The 22 is also ready to rock.
Other than my normal condition Yellow, no big deal so far. Hopefully, when the SHTF we'll already be up north, but if not, Im fairly certain we will be fine

Depends upon the supply chains ability to keep up with demand. It will get worse is my bet.
I think something else to consider is the economic impact the longer this drags on.
People are going to start going into debt, not working, eventually have trouble paying bills, sitting around at home bored with lots of time on their hand and starting to feel isolated and desperate.

around here, I think the panic part is pretty much over with. I see people walking all over, North Pond Park in Webster is generally packed on nice days. Im more worried about inner city people wondering through the neighborhood. It's the inner city that will go down first, and fast
Nobody, as of yet. Early in February, early morning AM, my motion detector flood lights lite up, also sends me an email notification. I’m just reading, grab nightstand 1911, look out window and see some running up my driveway, towards the road and jump in car and race off...
I grab my AR and do a recon, finger prints on my dirty old truck, looks like they were looking to acquire some gas. No damage...I could go all night telling tails

I think that going to depend on the banks and how willing they're going to be to loosen up the collection rules. you can't have 25% of the population on unemployment and expect them to pay on time, there has to be some wiggle room there

I’m carrying more than before and also carrying an extra mag. My wife now keeps the PC9 with a crimson trace laser next to her side of the bed and we have a plan in place if someone breaks in.

I do admittedly have some stuff not in the safe that was previously in the safe.
Mostly because I can. Wifey is not anti gun in the least but generally prefers I not have stuff all over the house. It's a clutter thing not a safety thing.
I took a ride to the drx this morning in Westchester I was pleased to see less traffic than I expected on the Tac.

New Out Rigger cameras [ those pointing toward the home ] Even more canned and dry foods. LOTS of Monster [dog] food
I carry everywhere with 2 spare Mags. Wife who shoots her Ruger .357 Mag better than most of us now has 2 more speed loaders. And yes she is good with them.
Every Girl in the Safe is cleaned, oiled , kissed and Ready with All Mags and stripped clips at the ready.
May everyone of us here never have to pull the trigger. For we are the last True Americans

I like what you said in your entire post. But I quoted just this part. It's interesting to think about. I'm not sure if those two sentences are mutually exclusive of each other.

Have your combination set excluding the last digit. In an emergency enter the remaining "code" like flint. Almost as simple as turning a doorknob to enter a room. Just be sure to instruct everyone home not to touch your safe and reason why.
