I think not. The one's I have chatted with stated how they felt in the beginning of unSAFE. "Just move" and "You voted for it."

From a practical stand point, hoping that other states get reamed with their own version of UnSafe so that they "get in the fight" does not help at all. Why would we want arms and ordinance heavily restricted in more states, when we need the pipeline for guns and ammo to remain open as much as possible. PA, OH, and VT are good examples of states NYers can still acquire parts and ammo. If those states go under, just about the entire NE region of states would be behind the Rainbow Curtain. We need more guns and ammo to flow and be stocked, not less.

We already have NY, CA, DC, Maryland, CT, RI, Mass, NJ, Illinois, and Delaware already heavily restricted. Oregon and Washington State aren't far behind. Even Florida had a near miss with former Governor Scott passing Red Flag bullshit, and if Desantis hadn't gotten in with a slim vote margin, FL would be dealing Obama 2.0 right now in the form of that criminal Gillum

After UnSafe people pulled back and said they were going to get Astorino into the Gov office and knock King Andy out of politics. Everyone thought they were going to start some new political party, or run for office, or turn out the vote.

The big map showing all of the counties that passed resolutions against UnSafe was garbage. Voting in NY like all states is dominated by population, and all of the population in NY is in NYC, LI, Rockland, Westchester, Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, and some smaller cities like Ithaca, Cortland, and the Utica/Rome area. Most of the population centers are left leaning.

Politics as usual in NY was never going to cut it. The Republcan party in this state is useless, the Conservative party has no real power, and the gun orgs did nothing in NY for their members. Literally nothing.

We need to come together locally and organize and say enough is enough. It doesn't need to be some monolithic one-party system.

We need to support the Bill of Rights for ourselves. No one else is going to do it for us.

What have NYers done about their own situation? Not a damn thing, other than refuse to register and maybe stock up just in case.

The only thing we did was stand on a lawn after legislation was passed. That probably prevented much farther action till now.

It is a violation of the second amendment, precisely because there are no defining circumstances for gun ownership in the wording of the amendment. Other states, through their silence on the mater, allowed for that violation to take place in NY and CA. That's the issue. There is no point in having a union if the other states are going to allow amendments to be broken. The other states in the union are just as much to blame, if not more so, because their populations are not in a powerless position like ban states are currently.

The other states in the union should've stepped up. They should've said what was being done was unconstitutional, and banded together to encourage federal enforcement of the bill of rights. They should've made it clear that federal law enforcement would arrest anyone trying to enforce the SAFE act, as it is an unconstitutional policy.

(Of course, the trump card to all of this being possible, is that the supreme court exists. The first order of business other states should undertake is a constitutional convention to abolish the supreme court on the grounds it's an ineffective, and political, concentration of power.)

You are correct but I will add: the constitution, state or federal does not need to specify. It's a done deal, "cannot" and "shall not" be infringed. That is exactly what has taken place. Yes other states should have indeed stepped up .......but this is where we are today.

The only thing left is a bigger call to action.

That's not going to happen.

As much as VA is turning purple, the Demrats down there barely won a majority in their Assembly (10 seats IIRC) and Senate (2 seats). The Republican party tossed in the towel down there and didn't run candidates in something like 26 Assembly seats, and did much of nothing to get the vote out.

There will be political backlash and its likely Dems will not control the VA Assembly after this crap show.

Regardless, now they are feeling the power with both chambers and the governorship, they're going to give VA the UnSafe version of an Obamacare cram down that will be impossible to repeal for years. There is no way they are not going to grab every scrap of power in VA they can while they have the chance, and it certainly will not stop there with just guns. VA citizens better hold onto their wallets and their daughters.

I don't want to give them too much credit, but the gun laws they are passing are really insidious and clever in a way that's very bad for gun owners. They are going to keep banning "features" to effectively make it impossible to own anything outside of a break action shotgun or bolt action rifle. If the legislation passes in VA, no one will register, just like no one registered here.

The problem is, I don't think most gun owners, who are by nature law abiding, (generally) decent people, are going to get in a shoot out with politicians and cops unless they start doing door to door no knock raids. By banning features they make it possible to keep gun owners from practicing with their preferred firearms, and also give authorities, particularly those on the left, the ability to penalize conservatives by tacking on felonies.

NYers did comply. I mean just here on this very forum, look at all the people who build neutered AR pistols with glee and register them. Look at all the people who installed mag locks or build their rifles featureless. Look at all the people who aren’t going out to buy the newest AR in a standard configuration or buy the newest Bullpup rifle that they want. Look at all the people who want a compensator on their pistol who don’t get a proper one.

And finally look at all the people who didn’t register but hide them and still submit to NICS checks and ask for permission to carry a pistol for self defense. If they truly aren’t complying, then why are they obeying only some laws?

News from VDCL: Not only gov buildings but Richmonds capital daclared "gun free zone, '' but the grounds as well. They have called on state troopers throughout the state to come to Richmond.

Virginians i am hearing from are saying fuck you do not comply. This going to get messy. I doubt a peaceful event unless the troopers stand down.
