For all those with a capacity to learn, here’s a study done that debunks the BS said here about droplets from a naked mouth traveling the same distance as with a mask. They tested a bandana, a cloth mask, and a N95. The study was done by Florida Atlantic University’s. Coincidentally, it mirrors what the CDC and WHO say about masks reducing droplet travel. It also mirrors the droplet study on petri dishes that I posted earlier where they tested droplets at distance with different masks on.

You don't seem to understand, stopping a single cough is not the same as stopping the virus from floating around in the air.

Think of it this way. You can make your garden hose shoot water a lot farther by putting your thumb on the end. But you won't change the size of the puddle it makes in the yard after letting it run for an hour by doing that at all.

Ok, I'll grant you that your mask will help in the very limited circumstance where you happen to cough or sneeze as we are passing by walking opposite directions on the street assuming you wouldn't have the decency to cover your mouth while doing so like a normal human being.

But in virtually every other case, it's useless.

And the aerosolized particles which are much much smaller than the solid droplets still escape through and around the mask and can circulate in the air for an extended period of time. It's an invisible cloud.

I did a similar "study" with a Barbie doll, a whoopee cushion and and some 3 ply Charmin. The results I observed were totally opposite though.

That is true and I agree with you that many need to be infected for the herd immunity. Either that or a vaccine.

However, I do not want to volunteer to get infected. I will most likely survive it but my parents in their late 80’s will not. My wife may not as well since her immune system sucks and she has asthma.

I also do not want to be potentially bedridden for weeks like my cousin’s father was. To this day, he still feels it due to the COPD he developed from it.
