They were just talking about this on the radio today trying to educate the "Karens" who think it's their job to yell at people. The rules are you must wear a mask IF:

Where in public are you going to maintain 6 feet from another person at all times?

You are being goofy about it. You think you found some loophole. I'm not saying you should or should not comply, but you haven't made a groundbreaking discovery here. If you're in a store not wearing a mask you have violated the order in all reality.

You're 6 feet away from others entering and leaving the store? Do they have airplane hanger doors? I've never even seen a store with isles that were 6 feet wide. If you turn the corner and there is someone there do you both take off running in the opposite direction? If so how many steps can you take before encountering another shopper? Then where do you go? Also curious if you throw your items to the cashier or if they have rigged up some kind of pulley system with a bucket attached. You are making a futile argument.

Masks are to protect others by capturing the majority of respiratory droplets. Less droplets equals less chances of exposure. It’s not to protect you specifically. I thought that was established already but for some reason yourself and the peanut gallery keep going back to that point as if what is being said is that masks protect the individual user.

I will answer yours honestly. I hope you can answer mine honestly. How much of a difference does my mask make? None. 100 percent zero difference. Why? Because I’m not sick. I cannot infect anyone. But I wear it so that in the event that I do get sick at work, I do not inadvertently infect the old lady in the grocery store that is trying to live and project all my droplets at her. So that the majority are contained in my mask. I also keep my distance from her as well. I also wear it because no one is going to take my word that I’m not infected and I’m not going to take anyone else’s word that they are not infected. There isn’t a mark on our foreheads that says that we are clean. If everyone in the supermarket wears one rather than whoever wants to wear one, there is no chance of an infected walking in without one projecting his droplets everywhere. If it’s enforced of course. My supermarket doesn’t play games. They will kick you out if you do not wear one.

Had a bit of a different experience at Sams Club today. At the door was some kind of security guard, a not too bad looking female, standing there with a box of masks. She had a black uniform with yellow accents. Some kind of patch but didn’t get a good look. I think it was a security company but could have been Sams Club security or something. She said something to me, I only heard “mask” and I said “I’m exempt” then asked the guy behind her for a wipe for my cart. That was that.

I observed another lady shopping and when anyone would get anywhere near, say 20 feet, she would try to get another 3 inches away. She at one time squeezed herself between one of the refrigerated cases and her cart. When I passed her she went to one side of her cart just barely pushing from the very corner of the handle.

Then when I was just about done, I heard a muffled voice behind me say “aren’t you supposed to have a mask on?” I saw a slob of a man out of the corner of my eye. He was probably in his mid 50’s. I just ignored him. Then I heard him say “oh deaf too”. I really wanted to engage him at this point but I didn’t. He went off in another direction.

Its also funny that it doesn't matter what the mask is made out of. Old t-shirts, grandma's curtains, chinese paper masks, doesn't matter.

The bandana I picked up at a motorcycle rally 20 years ago has the same properties as a paper surgical mask or an N95. Amazing!
