Not sure who "Chevy" is, but refer to post #357. Invisible particles flowing through the airstream are not blocked by a loose fitting paper or cloth mask. This is a fact and cannot be spun.

There is more than one way to limit spread. It can be done at the person inhaling while wearing a properly fitted respirator. This is good when things are already in the air. The other way is capture so the particles don't enter the environment to begin with. Surgical and multilayered fabric masks are overall effective at preventing the particles from entering the environment... and therefore others don't breathe them in and get sick. They certainly don't capture 100%, but they do a good job collecting the bulk of expelled particles that carry the virus.

It's like if you've ever worked in a professional wood shop... typically dust capture is done right on on the machine doing the material removal. It's easier and generally more efficient this way than to let the wood dust go everywhere and clean it up later.
