My situation is the closest convenience store to me require masks, but not really.
I and many others go in there all of the time with no mask on and nothing is ever said about it.
The stores policy seems to start and end with the "mask required" sign on the door.
You will never know what will happen unless you test them. Test how willing they are to turn paying customers away.
I challenge the local stores resolve... I'm steadfast about my position, are the stores? Usually, they are not.
There are 2 local stores to me that do put up a big fuss... I just go to one of the other ones. It doesn't take that much more time in my situation.

Funny thing... Deaths from cancer, heart attacks, strokes, etc. decreased by about the same number of people who died from kung flu when compared to last year.

Their business their rules. Same as a nursing home. You would be denied entrance into a nursing home if you pulled that crap to visit someone even if you legitimately had asthma.
As far as crap, crap is crap. My wife, sister, and mother have asthma. Asthma pump , home nebulizer, and everything. They can wear a mask for 30 or so minutes while entering a store.
And regarding other diseases, no other disease has wiped out multiple nursing homes like this one has had. The flu, colds, etc. So is it a nothing burger? No.

1) 149,000 dead is a bullshit number. remember, if you die of a heart attack, it's covid death, regardless if you test positive or not, whether you symptoms or not. If you die from Liver failure or cancer or athletes foot or ring worm, if you get hit by a bus or die in car crash, ITS A COVID DEATH.
2) if you test positive for Covid, the "contact tracers" will contact every single person you mention. so let say you tell the contact tracers you encountered 20 people in the last 24 hours. ALL 20 PEOPLE ARE NOW COVID POSITIVE, so now *they* add 21 people (including you) to the covid case count, WHETHER ANY OF THOSE PEOPLE ARE POSITIVE OR NOT. whether any of them ever bothered to get tested or not
3) if you go get tested, you are now on one more list. whether you are negative or positive, you are now on a list. This list WILL BE SHARED throughout the health community, HIPPA laws be damned. After-all, this is a crisis ~~~that 99.6% of people survive. I would not be surprised to learn the government is also collecting EVERYONES DNA.

There are other places to get paint move on. I have only been denied service twice for not wearing a mask. Advanced Auto Parts, this one was easy just walked next door to NAPA. The other time was my Dr. office I didn't have a choice there.

I have been in Wegmans multiple times without a mask. I just walk in like I belong there. Don't make eye contact with any employee until check out.

If a store has a policy that I must wear a mask, I'll shop someplace else. It's that simple.
For enlightened people, here is some simple math.
1) A "micron" is a unit of measurement - it is one millionth of one meter, or roughly 1 / 25,000 of 1 inch.
The micron rating of the average mask you see people wearing is 3 microns, meaning anything smaller than 3 microns can pass through the opening.
The virus you're worried about is 0.125 microns.
The hole in your mask is 24 times larger than the virus.
Wearing a mask to stop the virus is roughly the equivalent of putting up a single fence post every 20 feet (with nothing in between) to keep rabbits out of your vegetable garden.
Maybe it's time for people to accept the idea that you will either get sick or you won't, and if you get sick, you'll either die or you won't.
The good news is, the math proves you are highly unlikely to get sick and even if you do get sick, you are highly likely to recover.

I have asthma. My doctor recommends that I wear a mask. I'm a cancer survivor. Over 35 years ago I got shot in the chest and it severely damaged my left lung. Covid could give me some really nasty problems. So I wear a mask.
In the meantime the country remains to be shut down because the covid is infecting the population. People are getting sick and people are dying. Yeah 99.whatever% don't get it or live. But, The politicians aren't going to open things up until things get better. And some people want to open up the country. But they don't want to do a minor thing to help stop the spread. Like wearing a mask.
I get that you don't care about me. That's fine. I mean nothing to you. Don't wear a mask. Great. Keep bitching about the businesses that can't open. Keeping complaining about the economy and the lost jobs. Yup, don't wear a mask. And when Trump loses the White House in November because he didn't wear a mask (among other things) you can bitch about that too.
