Desert Eagle 50 AE and ammo types

I came across some 50 AE rounds at a garage sale this weekend in PA for extremely cheap.

(1) box Hornady 300gr JHP
(80) loose rounds - has Hornady casing with what looks like FTX bullets
(2) boxes Magnum Research 300gr JHP

I read somewhere that the DEagle doesn't like cast lead or non jacketed bullets. Will the front of the Magnum Research bullets having the exposed lead flat nose be an issue?

Also, I can't find anything with regards to manufactured Hornady rounds made with the FTX bullets. These are most likely reloaded so I will be pulling them apart. As a rule of thumb, I don't shoot loads I know nothing about.

I'd like to use the FTX bullets if possible. Would anyone know if these are safe to shoot through the DEagle?

if the lead doesn't touch the rifling, it's a non issue in any gun AFAIK.

Higher velocity guns and some types of rifling will foul quickly if the rifling engages lead instead of copper.

I am not aware of any other lead based issues.

If you plan on pulling them all down and using new all powder, then I can't think of any reason the FTX bullets wouldn't be safe.

If these are the FTX, then they're explicitly made for 50AE

When I look up 50 cal FTX rounds on Hornady's website, the only one is listed for 500 SW. I am not sure why these 50AE casings were loaded with those bullets if they don't match the formulary.

Looks like Hornaday never loaded the FTX for 50AE, just the XTP, but I believe they do list loads for it.

Spoke with Magnum Research today, @spat you were correct about the lead flat nose being fine. They said as long as the bottom and sides are jacketed it is fine.

I also did more searching online and found that the Hornady FTX 50AE bullets were designed for the Freedom Arms revolver 50AE.

I'll pull them apart, use the FTX bullets to reload 50 Beowulf and use the primed brass for the the DEagle reloads.

The powder will just be dumped into my coffee can of unknown powders. I use this for my pyro habit

The Desert Eagle being a gas operated gun the issue with unjacketed lead bullets would be in regards to fouling the gas port. So like customer service said any projectile in which lead does not come into contact with the rifling would be fine.
