Stalin's pre-WWII diplomacy gave Russia few more years to prepare for war and additional buffer zone. If the war started at 1939 boarders Hitler would have been in Moscow by mid fall. Japanese would finish the job by attacking from the East. Stalin didn't lose a single conflict. Prior to Stalin, Russia lost a war to Poland, lost to Japan in 1905, made a peace deal with Germany by giving up a large part of its territory.

Anyway, it's long since time we had a "List all the great things about Stalin" thread. A greatly misunderstood man. A man who dearly loved his country and his people. Sure, he had his political enemies killed, he ripped parents from their homes, and others beaten, killed, enslaved. But, I feel that this overly focuses on the negative parts of him. There were also some good things like the fact his people lived in fear of secret police, had no freedom of expression. The west focuses too much on the bad.
