With the court moving right ... one could see some action on that level. Ponder this .. Knowing that a retirement would be forthcoming... NO 2nd cases were heard by design.. Until a solid majority sat on the court. ... Some time in the future the safe act could be nullified .

The 2nd Amendment did not specify for the express purpose that We The People were supposed to be able to resist an invading military force (foreign or domestic invasion).

I'm with you Jmac. My wife and I have purchased our retirement home in the free State of Tennessee. I asked my lawn maintenance guy down there where I could go shooting, and his response was, "Why not shoot in your backyard? Everybody else does it." There's no 500' from a habitable structure regulation like in NY. Our school and county taxes are a little over $400 total per year.

I don't understand why people stay in New York, when freedom is available. Most New York citizens are prisoners, they just don't realize it.

We are not bad mouthing you at all .. what we are pointing out.... The anti gun movement is a cancer ... IF Hillary had won .... There are many reasons why folks stay in this state .... I dare say over a 1/3 of the reasons are the spouse says NO to a move .. Like you .. stay until we retire ... Then we can decide to move . You are working a good job here .. Parents are elderly and close by for your needed assistance ... Kids in good schools . A whole list of reasons not to move.
My parents moved to Ohio while I was in college. Youngest sister was in 7th grade . She used the same text book in 9th grade that she used in 7th here in NY. She thinks we were a year ahead in every course here in NY. ... Another sisters husband also attended that high school . Is an engineer ... He took all the advance courses that school had to offer in math. ... He did not have enough to keep up with even the first classes he took...( University level ) .. He self taught himself (advanced math ) while taking the engineering courses. He is highly critical of Ohio schools ... This was 30 years ago . Perhaps things have changed ... I doubt it. .. So if one goes to Tennessee and you see the school system a year or two behind NY State ( just saying so ) Have no idea .. Would you move your children there ? ... Like I said many reasons to stay here ... Perhaps not forever ... Just for now..

Under terms of the settlement, the government has agreed to waive its prior restraint against the plaintiffs, allowing them to freely publish the 3-D files and other information at issue. The government has also agreed to pay a significant portion of the plaintiffs’ attorney’s fees, and to return $10,000 in State Department registration dues paid by Defense Distributed as a result of the prior restraint.

“Not only is this a First Amendment victory for free speech, it also is a devastating blow to the gun prohibition lobby,” noted SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb. “For years, anti-gunners have contended that modern semi-automatic sport-utility rifles are so-called ‘weapons of war,’ and with this settlement, the government has acknowledged they are nothing of the sort.

“Under this settlement,” he continued, “the government will draft and pursue regulatory amendments that eliminate ITAR control over the technical information at the center of this case. They will transfer export jurisdiction to the Commerce Department, which does not impose prior restraint on public speech. That will allow Defense Distributed and SAF to publish information about 3-D technology.”

I have been in NY since 1964. I was ten years old when we moved here. This IS a great state. But over-regulation and taxes have made the state unlivable. your experience in NY schools is fine. The Suburban schools are very good. I grew up in the Rush-Henrietta School district. BUT, the Rochester City Schools are ranked WORSE in NY, the graduation rate is UP from 37% to 42%, which our mayor celebrated as a great achievement, when I graduated from HS, the graduation rate was 90%, and we had about 800 in our class.

I don't have to worry about schools or children. So I am free ~~~ in 4 years

If you want professional results, be prepared to buy professional equipment.

But Harbor Freight tools, in the right hands, will typically be quite adequate.

Might be adequate for drilling holes, not for an 80% receiver.

You'd be better off spending $200-300 on a 3d printer... Or find a library or school that has one you can use.

Most schools are reluctant to let students or others use their mills, lathes, 3d printers, etc for any firearm components. They don't want it to come back to them if someone uses that firearm to commit a crime.

I know Erie community won't let people make firearm components.
