The boys from inRange ran over a gwacs cav15 lower with a truck and it survived. It's a polymer lower, however unlike the one in the image above it has the stock molded on it as well which adds to the rigidity.

It doesn't take much to make an 80%.
The jigs do most of the work. You could manage with a dremel and a hand drill if necessary. Many of them are designed to work with just a trim router freehand.

Actully she is right. gerrymandering works by making the districts you lose in lose by huge margins, so that you can concentrate your voters in the marginal districts to win them.
You can't redraw the states to gerrymander them, but if people vote with their feet, you can make it so that the dems win a couple states by 40% margins, so that we can win the rest. That is assuming that each person has already decided who they will vote for.

If they go that route and try the "only military arms" are protected, then they have to say good by to the NFA. "Sorry, only things issued to the military, so full auto MP5's, M4's, etc...".
If they make that call, I'm ordering a ma deuce tomorrow.
At this point I believe the best solution is to take Gun Control AWAY from the States, and back 100% to the Feds.

a drill press like that can't handle the side to side load , there built for up and down .. you will get a lot of chatter unless you covert it over to how a mill is setup .. seen some you tube vids about it ..

I have that one. I'd be pushing its limits doing an 80% lower on it. Bigger is better, and there's a lot more value in used machines.

This would be somewhat the opposite of Heller, McDonald, and I believe the early case (30's? In re sawed off shotguns) was Marshall.
The key is (hopefully) "in common use."
Despite my decades of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, I would be the first to admit my hours spent in milling first-hand would be in the low double digits.
I would expect a Cross Vise, operated with a sharp bit, in Aluminum, combined with a Drill Press, would do adequate work for an Amateur.
But I cannot confirm this with experience.

As someone who has worked in the engineering, manufacturing and materials testing fields, and who has a low-budget machine shop in their basement, I think you'll be sorely disappointed trying to mill an 80% lower with a drillpress and a cross slide vise.

Precisely moving the work on the drill press to accurately locate holes.
It might work as a mill, but there are better, cheaper alternatives - like the trim router jig set as mentioned above.

I think the only way it's even a viable option is if you drill out 90%+ of the material and use and end mill bit to clean up what little is left. Which I have been thinking of going that route.
I can't afford even the cheapest of decent mills right now.

Then all you need is a $40 harbor freight trim router, the bits and a vice to hold the lower.

Well, only if others don't want it as bad as I did. Otherwise the auction price goes high. I watch the gov auctions a lot for military trucks, same happens. Can usually get good buys on parts vehicles until enough people have interest in them. Then even trashed and looted LMTVs go for crazy money.
I may watch some of those auctions after I get moved and have a small shop set up. But right now, even $500 is too much for me.

A lot of the older manual metal working equipment goes for CHEAP! I passed up on surface grinders lately for $50 and $100 recently only because I don't have space for it now.

I've looked at several of them over and over, but I figure for what I would get out of them for the cost of a good jig and router could be better spent elsewhere. I would have to finish a lot of lowers to make it worth it to me.
