Well a "friend" of mine made a post about the recent shootings (pro 2a leaning) and the topic was mostly assault rifles, and specifically .223rem/5.56 And some "gun guy" had to jump on about how and I quote ".223/5.56mm Bullets are inferior to modern defensive 9mm cartridge"

I am going to blur out the names and what not for anonymity but I will color code them as follows.

I was tired while driving so flipped over to the 'poor me' channel as it always gets my blood pressure up and I end up yelling at the radio, anyway some callers are calling in and one (supposed)" vet" is saying how he used an AR15 in Viet Nam and no one needs them here! This guy thinks that the size of the hole after expansion in 9mm is bigger than a .223. What he fails to realize is that the .223 is making a bigger hole because the tissues are stretching past it’s elasticity point to where they become permanent. So that temporary stretch cavity that is now permanent is much bigger than the expanded 9mm hollow point hole left behind.

They will have to either admit they are making things up, or pull data out of their ass, which you can then ask for sources on.

Or link to some YouTube ballistics gel video showing what 9mm and .223 does in slow mo and ask which she think looks nastier.

A baseball is 2300 grains, since apparently velocity doesn't matter, tell her to just put a few of those in her bag and she'll be way better than a 45ACP even....

Plus no permit needed, she can practice in her backyard and reloading is a piece of cake....

She went on asking if I study ballistics. I told her no but I try to understand the best I can especially for 9mm handgun ammo (so I can have the best I can when carrying) 5.56/7.62 ammo for home defense reasons and what ever ammo I am planning to hunt with for ethical reasons.

She responded



So I tried to pass on some decent resources and and some understanding that ballistic gel isnt meant to represent a human.body but more be a way to take a variable out of the equation when comparing and testing ammo and a way to get repeatable data
