Well I inherited most of them, and I don't actively pursue activities that I am sure most people here do. So I would still consider this a side-hobby despite my large collection.
I rest my case.

Call a lawyer monday monrning. Not really, there are no permits in VT and I have no other state permits. Hence, I have no reciprocity in states outside of Vermont, and this revocation will prevent me from getting any out of state permits in the future.

Additionally. Who cares if its someone trolling, id rather get duped by a troll than turn my back on someone that genuinely needed help.
I could be wrong, but when you said you took 20% of your guns out of ny after the clerks office told you to surrender them. Im not a lawyer, or a LEO, but i dont trust the legal system in this state. What sort of "self-incriminating" info have I included here?

Nothing. They have no jurisdiction across state lines. So? What the hell could they even do about it?
If your intent is to keep a ny permit, or at the least not have a revocation on the record then get professional legal advice. Anything i say is opinion, but im currently at a holiday inn.So? What the hell could they even do about it?
What I don't understand is, why would you go to the permit office anyway? Why not just recertify with the state police? What does the permit office have anything to do with anything?
This just doesn't make sense. I know your other handle. You aren't new here.
I could have sworn you wrote a post in another username. I remember seeing it but I didn't respond to it because i figured you screwed up. Then it was deleted and afterwards the same post came up under the username you are using now.I just thought the permit office would be the best place to get information about an issue pertaining to pistol permits.
Also, what other handle? What does that even mean?
You left out a detail in your more detailed narrative. Did the clerk you spoke with return your permit?
Robin
Can they track long guns purchased via dealers or feds? 4473. Lots of work but....

how many guns did you buy before 1986? Form 4473 wasn't a requirement until 1986.

If its important enough, there are lawyers that will take payments.Hell, most of us haven't even saved enough to retire on. How are we going to afford a lawyer?
50 handguns and this is a "side hobby"!!!What happens if I just do nothing? Obviously I have not committed a crime, so can I just ignore everything they said. I certainly will not be surrendering any of my guns, so they will not be hearing from me otherwise. Will they actually try to track me down if I don't hand over my guns? I have a huge collection of firearms (50 handguns alone) so maybe that is why they are so interested in the fact that I did not renew. Yet, I have bought many of them in VT so I don't think they would even have those "registered" on file.
Ok you got me. This whole story is untrue. I thought it would be interesting to get people's reactions on would happen if NY LEOs went back on their word in allowing people to register past the deadline on Jan 31. This whole thing has been a figment of my imagination, but I still think it has the potential for some good discussion nonetheless.
