The fact that the 1st amendment has become toilet paper in the age of covid and the country as recently as 8 months ago thought it was pretty good, there's nothing stopping them from using EO to do whatever the hell they want. Compliance is another matter.

Seriously, whoever made that decision should be shit-canned. The most important time for the election officials are the few days leading up to, the day of, and the few days following elections. Should be all hands on deck, pretty much any business does this. There are a few weeks a year that are critically important where I work, nobody gets off, it's just part of the business. As far as election officials go, right now is that all hands time.
