Elmira school district adds new club

This past Wednesday the Elmira City School District held the regular meeting of the Board of Education. On the agenda was adding a new club that gets kids involved with shooting traps. It passed without anyone voting against it.

Elmira is the first district in the area to approve such a club. The club is scheduled to hold practices and competitions at Sullivan Trail Rod and Gun Club.

Really glad to hear that... No way in hell my first district would have approved it. The second, in Greene County would certainly have been possible. I'd say about 75%+ of the school had guns in their homes.

It made my day seeing this post, while they are expelling kids for wearing an BRA shirt, or making a pistol with their pointer finger, eating a poptart so it looks like a gun, Elmira is starting a trap shooting club.
I love it, if it is up and going when I get back there deer hunting this November I will stop by a Wal-Mart and pick up a case of 12 gauge trap shells and donate them to the host of the trap shoot.

You deer hunt in this area?

I go deer hunting mostly in Broome and chenango county. We occasionally go up around South Otselic area.

Right before deer season I go up to the Old Forge area for a couple of days to unwind and enjoy the Adirondacks area. We usually rent a room on old forge.

Me and a group of friends actually tried doing this at the school. Then as we’re getting a teacher to help us parkland happened and that screwed up everything and we let the idea end.
