I heard those are damn fine guns, particularly for the money. When I get around to adding a 1911 to the collection, that's the one I've got my eye on.

Rock Island Armory 1911s can be had for about $400, and they're not bad. For a range 1911, you can't go wrong

CDNN just sold out of the Para Black Ops 1911 for 699 it was an absolute steal and you would not touch any nicer 1911 for that price.
+1 for the Ruger SR1911. I have a SR1911CMD. I love this pistol. I had a Kimber Custom Target II which I ended up letting go after I realized it was sitting in the safe and not getting out anymore. I DO NOT have safe queens, with the exception of a couple of older S&W, and Colt revolvers. But even they get out occasionally.
What I really liked the most about the Ruger Commander is that it is Commander sized with a full size grip for my rather large paw. Oh, and it is a tack driver.

We do an occasional 1911 Armorers Course. If people on here are interested I can set one up in Westchester for a Friday or Saturday night.

After doing some research on Springfield it seems like they make a great gun and go that extra little bit. Also prices are spot on or a bit cheaper than competitors. Also they seem to handle their warranty claims and customer service top notch. That was part of what made me decide to buy the Springfield xd. I will probably buy one of there 1911 next year if Hilary allows me to. Ill see how many side jobs I get. Maybe just maybe I'll buy the Cabot s103 I'd die for.

My opinion...for the money you can't beat the SR1911. I may be biased but I am a Ruger fan! My first 1911 was a Kimber Ultra Carry II. I wanted a 1911 I could carry daily and I love that gun too. I got the SR1911 because I wanted a full size 1911. It is accurate and will eat any ammo I feed it.
