I heard those are damn fine guns, particularly for the money. When I get around to adding a 1911 to the collection, that's the one I've got my eye on.Springfield Range Officer can be had for well under $1k

Very Nice!I went with a Springfield fully loaded operator. It's above your stated range. I can tell you the gun FAR exceeds my skill level.
I love both of my Ruger SR1911s. I just bought a Commander Lightweight. Its full size but lighter for CCW.
They both shoot perfect with zero issues.
They were each around 700 dollars. Heres the new lightweight.

What were shooting on saturday? That thing ran good all day from what i saw.We do an occasional 1911 Armorers Course. If people on here are interested I can set one up in Westchester for a Friday or Saturday night.
Usually runs about 3 to 4 hours and we charge $50. We provide the tools, you bring your 1911 and your cleaning kit.
I am planning on doing a 1911 only shooting class in the spring of 2017.
Agree!Yes there are better, but I love my ruger commander. Look at the reviews and you'll see they are inexpensive, eat anything and go bang every time.
