At Mass this Sunday, our priest, who usually doesn't launch into politics, went head first into a homily about immigration. My husband was NOT pleased.

I thought about it a bit and it seems to me that all of these discussions about immigration would be a lot easier to navigate if we laid out the ground rules: (1) no one's saying anything about stopping legal immigration- it's ILLEGAL immigration that's the issue. And (2) on the subject of LEGAL immigration of Syrian migrants, all Trump's saying is that they should be thoroughly vetted... although i don't know if that would be helpful since many of the men who committed these horrible acts in Europe don't have a criminal record.

Why can't we learn from what's happening in Europe? Why do we have to make the same mistakes in the name of political correctness?

The leftist cadres and commissars don't want this because......................wait for it......................................................LEGAL immigrants want to come here and have worked, been interviewed, been probed in every facet and orifice of their lives and bodies, been medically dissected for any infectious disease, etc, etc, etc.

And then,...............................they wait, depending on the situation, for months, or years, before they can even get in line for a visa to immigrate and get a green card.

They get here, and they work, and scrimp, and save; build a life with their own sweat and blood. Maybe a little help at first from relatives, their church, or a particularly close community. But they work their fingers to the bone, and usually succeed, because they know what it is like to have nothing, no hope, no privacy, no freedom, no future for their children, except maybe the gulag....or worse.

And then the libs just say - let everyone in - everyone is equal. BULLSHIT!!

Legal immigrants are the most patriotic, most giving citizens. They had to do so much more than just be born here, that they appreciate it more, and are much more sensitive to the demise of the American dream, because they earned it.

Yup. *nodding emphatically* It's completely unfair. Why bother going through the heartburn of the legal immigration process when you can just jump the fence and get the same results? I say don't pass go, don't collect $200. Send all of the to the back of the line.

Deport ALL of these people to their countries of origin and if they want to come back they can fill out the paperwork like the rest of us.

This topic raises my ire.

There's no such thing as a legal refugee.
There's no such thing as a legal H1B.

Congress was given the power to standardize a path for citizenship.

Both refugee and H1B specifically preclude citizenship. They are unlawful, and congress has no delegation to create them, any more than granting illegals "amnesty".

This issue is the very core of property rights. Either land owners have them and delegate some to our municipalities, who then delegate some to the State... or else the Federal Govt has them and the States merely rent it, and landowners have none.

It really is that basic.

For more gory detail, q.v. Wm. the Conqueror and his utilization of "denizens" to subvert common law. It isn't a joke; the demographic shift in CA is just 2.0 of his exact tactic. Federal Govt is specifically prohibited from owning land due to his seizing and giving it to denizens he created; Federal Govt is specifically prohibited from creating denizens because of his bringing them in to take political power. The flooding of illegals is little more than 2.0 of Wm's game; give them (unlawful) amnesty and make them denizens beholden to you, thereby destroying local common law and replacing it with their own, foreign law. Wm did it by making them judges and bureaucrats. In CA, they're running for office, FFS. It's an exact replay of what he did, and why.

Blech.

Russia is safer than Paris? How the world has changed. This story is in line with a guy I met from England at my local range this summer. He said he felt safer in Moscow than he did in his home country. The western democracies are almost guaranteeing a violent reaction. I thought violence would break out last summer but I was wrong about that.

Say off topic, but the English guy visiting I'm assuming he is pro gun if he was at a shooting range... But did he say anything about what the general opinion is on guns in England? Why is Europe so anti gun? Was he enjoying being somewhere that gun access is so readily available when he was here? Did he feel safer?

Not sure how much you talked to him just curious that's all

He was in town for a trap/skeet tournament. The Brooks Club in rochester hosts national and international tournaments. He was walking down by the areas where members could shoot within U shaped dirt berms. He didn't really say why Europe is so anti-gun but he was simply awed at the collection of rifles and pistols me and my friends had. Nothing too fancy - AK47, AR15 , mini 14, with a half dozen pistols. He felt comfortable in the US. We chatted for a few minutes. He does business in Moscow so that's how he could compare Russia and England. It must be depressing as hell to feel safer in another country rather than your own.

sweden is trying their best to keep a lid on the problems. Tourism is a major business and if this crap gets out, tourism will suffer.

Guess what, too late. everyone knows to stay out of Europe
