Ever have a bad range day!

Any range day is good....I guess.
Have some major work to do.
First time out with both.

Mossy was on paper but way off.
Have to figure out if the scope needs to go back.
Varmint. 24" heavy fluted barrel.
M223 2-8x24

Rem couldn't hit shit. Need to bore sight both and start over. Smooth as hell though. Great action. Amazing trigger.

bolt was sent to ga precision and threaded for a badger mini knob

this rifle was sent to red hawk rifles when the original owner bought it and had some minor work done to it there: lapped lugs installed, the trigger and polish the ramp.

Luckily OPE1 brought his Benelli to take out some aggression.

I've had days where I can't hit anything at all. It stresses me out instead of the opposite. But I get over it quick.

We used a big ass box. Grouping way high and to the right. Scope didn't want to drop them. Was a bad day but better than work.

The way I look at It no matter how bad my shooting is or
if I have an equipment malfunction it's still
better than being at work.
Except for the day about 30 years ago I forgot to put the sights back on the rifle I needed
to sight in. That day sucked. And it was the last time I forgot anything I needed at the range.

i will admit ... got everything out on the bench at home .. ok ammo .. check , targets , check .. primers check .. load the bag all up .. head to the range get out the .223 and ammo .. place the targets .. all goes well .. scope on target .. get out the new inline wolf .. first time to shoot it .. powder .. check , bullets check .. digs into bag .. WTF ... left the primers on the bench at home .. GRRRRRrrr

No it doesn't mean a lot. If the group was close to 1" but way off it's the equipment. If the group was bigger, it's most likely a shooters error.

I never bore sighted a rifle. What I do is put a great big piece of cardboard at 25. I check my ballistic calculator and make sure the point of aim point of impact (ie. My 223 is about 1.7 inches low at 25. So i pit a aimibg dot and then have the impact 1.7 low. This gets me very close at 100)

Well mistake one was going right to 100.

Are you kidding me? Bad range days are all i've been having lately! LOL. It was too hot this summer to do much shooting... Now I'm paying the price i'm heading out today if it stops raining... Whisper some sweet italian nothings to my beretta.

One time I got to the range with a friend and realized we left our ear pro home (about 25 mins away). Tried checking a nearby gas station for foam earplugs and nothing. Ended up going to the range anyway and they had recently put up a big box of foam plugs on the wall.

Recently I took my M1 Garand to the range and had one clip. Could have been worse, could have had none.

I've never forgotten ammo before but sometimes I do forget extra magazines. (depending on what I'm bringing I change out my range bag)

Other than that no real issues..

Yup. Been 65 days of quitting smoking and lately im hitting 3 out of 10 instead of the usual 8,9,10 out of 10 guess it's gonna take time to straighten my nerves and steadiness back to the zone they always were. All I gotta say for now is damn good thing I put Cimson Traces on all my carry guns LOL

Doc, i always start at 25 yds to sight in too, then move out when its close.

Doc, did you account for the 20 MOA base on the Rem? That will put you 20" high at 100 if you don't compensate with the scope elevation.

Nope. Not yet.
Being zeroed this weekend st 25 and go from there.
I need to read more if I want to shoot at 600

There's also the poor man's bore sight. You need a lead sled or enough bags to prop you rifle in a steady manner. Then remove the bolt and look dow the barrel and move the rifle onto target. After this be careful not to move the rifle and look through the scope and move the cross hairs on to target. This will usually get you on paper.

I had a range day where out of nowhere I had a major case of the rumbles, if you know what I mean. Fortunately the range was adjacent to some woods and I had a bunch of old receipts in my wallet. But I don't think that's what you meant.

Yes, it happened to be on my birthday this summer. The indoor range was packed, two people side by side shooting shotguns right next to me. The blasts were so annoying and the concussions were shaking my ear drums. One kid around 18-20 maybe with couple of his friends, complete douche, talking about how he had over "$4,000" in his rare exclusive pump Remington 870 shotgun, blasting off rounds like an idiot and thinking he's just so cool and knows what he's doing. On top of that, one of my guns was jamming like a bitch too and I had to rebuild the damn thing. I hate shooting near or being near douchey teenagers, especially dangerous inexperienced ones with guns. God it makes made irritated just thinking about it. I actually wanted to pistol whip him right in the face a few times. I rushed through some ammo and just left.
