Federal anything is scares everywhere lately. I stacked away a couple thousand rounds of 124gr +p HSTs awhile ago though.I get v crowns because they are locally available and shoot well out of my pocket as well. Federal seems scarce locally.

Well, in theory, your argument sounds reasonable.I think it is an absolutely terrible idea to mix ammunition types in a magazine. Different types/brands usually have different POI, you don't know from shot to shot which projectile is coming out and having mixed ammo types/brands is something LE associates, right or wrong, with criminal types. It is far better to do one's homework and select a round that fulfills one's specific needs.
I primarily load Federal HSTs due to that cartridge's stable performance across a wide spectrum of bullet weights and velocities. I also have tested and verified Speer Gold Dots, Remington Golden Saber (bonded) and Sig V Crown.
Ehh I go to the range to shoot for enjoyment. Not to put tiny groups on targets. If that was the first shot it would be worth of a picture but there are 249-499 rounds going down range behind it.Well, in theory, your argument sounds reasonable.
I DO use my ammunition in my mags when I go to the range and replace with fresh when done. Yes, it's expensive, but I believe in practicing with what I'll use, for obvious reasons, some as you've mentioned. I Iry to match slug weight, fps, etc. And at a 15yd range, well within what most "Life Protection" events might take place, I can assure you that POA=POI within well acceptable margins! I'm not using a handgun for 100yd issues! I've used the same ammo for a long time as well, so POI is very predictable...
I've tried a wide range of ammo to "see" how they shoot, feel, etc. As an example, Underwood some time ago changed over to low flash power which is great, can't tell you how funny it was to see that flame in front of the barrel years ago, but knew it was an issue, etc. So they have a great product.
Again, I don't mix garbage munitions together, the specs are very similar and as such, so is the performance. Never an issue with feeds or anything else. So thank you for your insight, but I have found any of those concerns unfounded by practice and experience.
Example below is an old pic, but makes my point. This is first shot, approx. 21ft., drawing from holster at range... And I would pray to GOD that this would be the case, should heaven forbid, I ever need to do the same in a real situation/event. But it was draw and shoot, no stand, aim, steady, fire, etc. All reflex! So since then, I have a lot of trust in predictability...

Real question is this... When ^^^this^^^ is your first shot of the day, do you continue, or pack it all up and call it a day as you KNOW it can't get any better, hahahaha?
Have a great day
Hahaha, yes yes... Definitely both!Ehh I go to the range to shoot for enjoyment. Not to put tiny groups on targets. If that was the first shot it would be worth of a picture but there are 249-499 rounds going down range behind it.

I do the range to measure and maintain proficiency! But once that's done, it's all fun!!! ;D because all work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy! Lmao!
I did that with my Glock 35. Turned it into a G27XL. 5.3" barreled slide with the stubby G27 length grip. It was fun. Reasonably easy to carry, great ballistics, fun to shoot. Had the .357 Sig and 9mm conversion barrels as well. The only gun I almost regret selling.I'll probably be getting one of those xgrips to make a G26L. With an XL you don't give up any of the things you mentioned.
Pros and cons
No mistaking that one! Lol
This right here. What if your cheap polymer pinky extension comes loose and as you draw your gun you drop $50 worth of ammo at your feet? Better hope you can make do with the one in the chamber..At least one, not just for capacity but for the possibility of malfunctions whether ammo related or mag.
I like my extra mag on my non-dominent side so I draw it while still shooting.
I agree. I am not sure why one would carry the only spare magazine on the dominant side.I like my extra mag on my non-dominent side so I draw it while still shooting.
That is sufficient, the chances you'll even need a reload are very slim to begin with, having anything in reserve is a big bonus.Sadly I may be forced to carry a 10 round mag as a back up for now. Money is tight after the holidays.

As Massad Ayoob states in the video I posted there are reasons you might need an additional magazine beyond running out of ammunition.
Whats your configuration to have 4 spares? Belt, pocket ankle, combo? Thats a lot of hardware to mesh into daily casual attire. Sometimes I feel like im bulging a bit with carry piece at 4:00 and 2 spare mags at 7:00ish.You got me beat. I carry the one in the gun and then four spare mags. Many think I’m nuts. I have 51 rounds with me and one mag that I keep separate has barrier penetrating rounds just in case. You carry the most I know of. Not a bad thing.
Don’t get cocky and say I’ll never need more than this because you shoot good at paper targets because you never know how you will react in that situation. You also maybe against a guy with a rifle 50 yards away or three or four criminals. You just never know.
Sure rub it in.Update:
Thanks to selling some more mags here, I was able to afford another round of Glock mags.
I now carry a 17+1 and a 15 in a weak side pocket. My wife has 2 15s. (Same gun/mag system)
Does anyone have a recommendation for a Glock mags holster/holder for a belt?
