It’s not another issue at all. Both of these issues are intimately connected. The reason why businesses can’t get workers is because of what the government did and is handing out more money than ever before.
Look the infection rate is so low right now they can pat themselves on the back but that can’t take away the monetary benefits to make them go back to work?
This is all part of the plan to set in motion more socialist government control and UBI. It’s wrong and should be illegal. These politicians should be forced out and arrested for what they did.

The icing on the cake is that, in most of NY, fast food is at $15 now and most of the rest seems to be at $12.50. In what world is fast food more important than basic manufacturing!? This fucked up one, obviously.

I don't think there is anymore.

It pretty bad when I'm looking at the French revolution and thinking that's our *best case* scenerio, but that's where I am now.

And I think that one's a long shot.

If I had to guess where we're headed, I would say totalitarian nightmare, followed by complete economic collapse, then a few centuries of "dark ages" where we can no longer even repair existing technology.

That show they want you to think. They want you to say hey fast food is the lowest of the low and everyone else needs to be at $15/hour at least, if not more. Many right now are pushing for $25/hour minimum wage.

Speaking of fast food Mcdonald’s wants over $8 by me for a Big Mac meal (medium). I’m positive I was paying sub $8 until recently.

A full size Panera salad with one icing cookie cost me over $15 a couple days ago. That right there is bullshit.

You don't realize how bad takeout is, or even restaurant food, until you start cooking for yourself. It's far cheaper, and once you get good at it you realize how fucking lazy a lot of these places are / garbage the food is.

Whatever time it would take to go out to eat, and then travel back home, is about the same as my cook and cleanup time. I spent roughly an hour and fifteen minutes cooking dinner and cleaning up last night. That included shrimp alfredo with low carb pasta and old bay, in combination with freshly roasted broccoli with a toasted pine nut and teriyaki glaze I made with Xanthan Gum to thicken. Finished with a leftover fresh made Belgian waffle I made from scratch from chicken and waffles night, which I topped sweetened greek yogurt and berries as a dessert.

So for a total of maybe $10-12 in ingredients, I managed to do better than some lukewarm garbage I'd get eating out for $60 minus tip.

Generally, I don't think either of them need to be at $15 an hour necessarily. They need to be paid what the market will bear for unskilled labor. I could see manufacturing paying more, logically, because they generally require a set schedule and more hours.

From a societal health point of view, manufacturing is worth much more than fast food. That was my point. The market might have other ideas about that but what we have now is government dictate, not market forces. Price controls probably have a small place but they need to be narrowly focused and almost never economy wide and permanent.

The end result is more inflationary pressure and the compression of the middle class. NY has implemented a roughly 50% minimum wage increase over the last 5 years. Those who fought their way up from the bottom and are already above $15/hr will be lucky to see that percentage increase over their entire careers.
