Actually the name Obama Care is a false narrative it is really Obama Insurance.

Does it need a replacement?

To me, it has made mediocrity the new champion in health care.
My copays have risen. I have private health insurance because I freaking earned it. Nobody gave it to me.
The monthly premiums have risen from zero to 400 a month.
do you go to the doctor with every malady every time? I don't. If I get a fever I take care of myself. If I break a bone I will go to a doctor.

The media and the DNC are in the process of convincing Americans that the R's have to replace obamacare with something?

It will wreck California budget and God only knows what it will do to Cuomo and NY State.

California made a tremendous mistake investing so much in the current system, especially when the Republicans have been trying to repeal it since the beginning. My wife works for one of the major Health Insurance companies and we get our insurance through them. I can't even pretend to understand how all this works, and honestly when she tries to explain it to me, I usually reach for the gin, but here's what I can tell you:

Our premiums have gone up ($12000 a year for family of 4)
Our deductibles have gone up to $2600 per person from $1800
And if I understand it correctly the amount we can contribute to a HSA tax free went down.

I work with two guys who could not afford insurance before OC, and still can't afford it, but get to pay a penalty now. Our employer is a Small Business that doesn't offer health insurance. One of the guys is divorced and most of his paycheck goes towards Child support.

I don't have the answer, but I personally know zero people who have benefited from the ACA.

I'd guess ny is going to be in the same boat as the state subsidizes the shit out of plans. $700/month for my wife and I. Rarely go to the dr. Every other year for my DOT physical. But if something happens it will bankrupt me without health insurance. Although the premiums are working at that as well.

Here is an alternative. JOBS! Let the free market pay the insurance.

When there is a need for employees, and companies have to compete to get people, then the benefits increase.
That is how it works.
If we start seeing a employee shortage the liberal answer is to bring in foreign workers. Hell Big corporations were all for Obamacare because it saves them the hassle of administration. Leave that to the Unions and Government and all I gotta do is write a check? Hell yeaH.

Obama Care was never about care, it was about control. Now the Government can dictate what is save and not safe because they are paying for the medical bills of the skier that hit the tree. Your insurance sucks shit, as does everyone's. I have pretty good insurance I think--as far as it is concerned. This means that between my employer and me we pay about $18k/year toward the premium. I then have $200 coming out every two weeks beyond that, into my HSA. And from that HSA, which is limited in contribution size regardless of how big one's family is, I have to pay until I hit my 3k deductible. Once I hit that I am still paying 20% of everything.

Last year my kids' braces (two have them) plus a few pitiful doctor visits blew my entire HSA contribution balance. So I was lucky enough to not really need a doctor because if I did I would have had to pay the $18k, plus the $5200 to the HSA PLUS then 20% of anything I use.

A decade back when we had a kid I seem to recall paying about $200. FOR EVERYTHING. To be fair, health insurance has been going to hell in this country before ACA came along, but it's definitely not more affordable, that's for fugging sure.

That's the Number Bitch at my work also, the cost of Healthcare. Can't believe the recent increases! And it is my understanding it is crushing everyone. What pisses me off is that we don't have access to other insurance companies. My sister-in-law who lives in another state has access to insurance companies I've never heard of before. Why don't we have access to them? Also healthcare is double dipping or triple dipping. For instance, I have a Healthcare plan for my family yet if I get in a car accident my car insurance is to pay first with their healthcare rider. Why? Don't I have healthcare already? If I get hurt at work my employer is to pay Work mans Comp to cover my injuries? Why? I have a Healthcare plan. If I'm "Out of Network" i'm forced to pay much more if I get injured. Healthcare has been destroyed has far as I'm concerned. I remember back in the late 90's up here in the Rochester area we had the best Healthcare in the Nation, we are upside down now.

I can tell you I know people who had BoatS, Snowmobiles, 4 Wheelers, Water Ski.,S A Sunday car, A Collector car ,a cabin in the woods,Partners on a shore house,Wife driving the 85,000 S.U.V you name it they had it and yet they claimed they could not afford medical insurance until Obama Care , B.S They always were able to afford medical insurance they just chose there personal pleasures over having medical insurance. I know of small business owners that that fudge there income so they can get the subsidies, I know another person that chose's to work only part time for a company who needs her full time because if she works any additional hours it makes her and her husband lose there subsidies for obama care. She Still works a 40 hour week but now she works the other 28 off the books for cash. All the time having these people call me at 4:30pm to say they just left work do I want to meet them at the shot gun range to dust some birds, and me saying No I still have another hour and a half before I can leave work.

9 years ago I had the best medical insurance, Now I have a poor plan with high deductibles that are a pain in the rear to manage, the company I work for pays into a health saving account to offset the giant deducatable hoping that we don't use the moneys. I had a person say to me after my knee replacement how much the company would have saved last year if I wasn't in the medical saving account , WTF. now I am sure part of my review may include a look into how much of the health account money I may have cost the company. SO YES I think it needs to be undone , All the subsidies that every one is getting is coming out of my pockets. I work six days a week almost every week of the year, some times 7 days, I work a min 10 hour day every weekday, and the norm is a 60 to 65 hour week. I have also stayed at a company I was not happy with just because I needed to provide medical insurance for my family . I state all of this because I want to make it clear I have made sacrifice to provide medical insurance for my family and I feel every one else should have to do the same. they feel they are entitled to it because they pay there taxes. Well I feel you get what you work for your not entitled to BUFCUS!
