The ballistics are claimed to be 1250FPS, about 100 FPS more than your average 9mm self defense round and 350 fp of energy. That’s essentially what most 9mm rounds get. A little heavier and larger bullet that’s slower compared to smaller lighter bullet that’s a tad faster, but you know all this.
Essentially they are working with the manufacturers of guns to push the capacity limits that are popular right now.

Ive got no dog in the fight, while this is interesting, I’m not interested in this caliber at this time.

I had a shield EZ in 380 and likes it a lot, however I felt the 8 round mag capacity was a little too low. Essentially same size as G43X. Thought about the shield EZ in 9mm but has same round capacity so just couldn’t quite pull the trigger on one. To have the shield EZ with 10 rounds interests me. Not enough to jump on a new caliber bandwagon right now, but if in a couple of years it’s still around then I would consider it. I see this benefiting 380/9mm guns that have 6-8 round capacity. A G43 with 8 rounds or a shield EZ with 10 rounds would be worth noticing.

With any new caliber to me I acquirer I will wait until I have 1500 rounds before trying to find a gun to shoot it out of. I would suggest a similar approach to anyone considering a similar move.

i make my own brass cutting down 5.56 to 1 1/8", necking the case and trimming and reaming out neck. i wonder if this new .30 has a similar crossover or the same can be done.

I’ve listened to multiple interviews of people from federal about this round and not one interviewer has asked them how much this new ammo will cost per round. Dead in the water as far as I’m concerned

They have it for $0.45/roundish on target sport USA. There is none in stock so who knows if they is accurate. About $0.08/round more than 9mm so just stick with the 9mm. Plus you risk buying a caliber that will not be around in a year.

I like how they say people are focusing on the same ballistics of a 9mm and aren’t focusing on the increased capacity. Well they fail to focus on the fact that many places limit rounds in handguns to 10 rounds. The other places that don’t you can already have standard capacity rounds of 12, 15, 17 rounds of 9mm so what switch to a smaller diameter 9mm round? People generally stop advancing by bleeding out and becoming unconscious so diameter does matter.

The harsh truth of the matter is most don't care about ban state restrictions. To the free states y'all basically don't exist. It's counter productive frankly.

Oh I get that. There are many more free states than ban states. My point is I’m not sure the people in the free states want more capacity. Maybe I’m wrong and I very well could be. I would think a sig 365 with 12-15 rounds would suffice and not put me in the market for this firearm/caliber of I lived in a free state.

+2 rounds is +2 rounds however, to me, 10 rounds of 9mm is "sufficient". That said I also think 100gr @1250fps providing .55" of expansion and a reliable minimum of 12" of penetration is also "sufficient". A loss of 15% of energy for a 20% gain in capacity seems a reasonable trade off.
I found out that this cartridge operates at a heady 50,000psi of pressure which gives me pause as to the durability of a typical delayed blowback pistol action.
Ultimately I prefer cheap ammo that is readily available and that is definitely what 9mm is.

Yep. I agree. I have multiple pistols in 9mm and a healthy stock of rounds and mags. Not worth it for me to try it.

Still all boils down to availability for me.
If this cartridge becomes established I could see myself considering the purchase of a Shield Plus in 30 Super Carry. I would retain the 9mm Plus for cheaper practice.
I say the name should be shortened to just 30 Super, it's less cumbersome to say and sounds cool.

This is basically a recreation of the 7.65x20 French Long cartridge, which is what the French called the .30 Pedersen cartridge when they adopted it as their service pistol round.
The .30 Pedersen was developed for the Pedersen device which replaced the bolt of a 1903 Springfield to covert it into a semi automatic firearm. It never saw service.
The cartridge and device were developed in 1917 and the war ended before it could very issued. Just as well, as most consider that it would have been an ineffective weapon. You basically have the functionality (dubiously) projectile a sub machine gun but with the size and mass of a rifle.
