I’m no economist but pretty bold move with inflation still at 3% and been stuck there for months. I doubt this will have a huge impact either way but people are hurting and I’m glad to see the rate come down if it was the right move. Time will tell. I wish there was a bit more time because I just told my son last week to get his cash into some CD’s but now he’s losing money since he didn’t but that’s on him.

Rate cuts are not what we need. Cheap money has destroyed our economy, what we need are massive cuts to government spending with attendant massive cuts to taxes. Interests rates SHOULD be somewhat high to discourage frivolous spending and investment in risky, unsound ventures. What we need is long term deflation to make higher interest rates offset by much lower loan amounts being needed due to that deflation. We need to consign fiat currency to the ashbin of history and once again peg our currency to tangible assets. The value of economies need to once again reflect the value of the goods, services and trade therein. There is no choice but to do so, the current way of generating fake wealth via speculation, artificial growth and taking on endless debt is failing and about to cataclysmicaly crash. The only choice is whether we make this transition now, or after we have been reduced to a barter system based on bottlecaps.
