It is a service grade , Korea era H&R. I would have to look at the CMP paperwork for the exact gauge #s. I remember being very happy with them when I first got it. The stock is new from CMP , soon to get the BLO treatment.Which version is the rifle? Looks like it might be a field grade with new wood? I have 5 M1's. 1 is a complete rebuild, 1 is a correct grade and the other 3 are service grades. Do you know what the chamber and muzzle measure? Take that baby out to 100 yards, bottom out the rear sight and come up between 11 and 12 clicks. That will get you in the ballpark. Back when I got my rifles from CMP, I think they were around 500 for a service grade and around 650 for a correct grade. It's my understanding that if you want a correct grade or higher, they are only available for bid. Good luck with your M1.
I’m guessing the oprods are matched with the original receivers in the pics, with the SA receiver (with the crossbar sight lock) on the bottom and the H&R on top? If so, the lug on the SA oprod looks worn to me, but I’m nowhere’s close to an expert.
Maybe this would give some insight?
M1 Garand Troubleshooting
EDIT: after looking more closely at the pix, th bottom (SA?) rod seems to have a big burr on it towards the as pictured upper left corner of the lug.
Thanks. I believe this is the place you speak of. I have sent an email to them. There is a place that will recondition the op rod to mil specs. I can't remember the name off the top of my head. I had the buttons replaced on two of my op rods. Good op rod repair. I think the place is in Columbus Ohio. "Columbus Machine Works" look them up. You will be glad you did.
