Folding stock AR 15

Not many choices that I can find. Want to get 14.5"(+flash suppressor) barrel assembled rifle under 28" to fit in backpack. Reliable functioning of rifle is paramount.

This one looks good but cannot fire when folded:

This one fires folded but looks cumbersome for top loading, and requires changing BCG as well.

Any other designs? Any experience with any of these?

If you don't find what you are looking for, just separate the upper from the lower. It's much more compact, reliable, and only takes a second and a half longer to get into action.

Last build I used the extended pins so it's even easier to break down, a lot less expensive. lighter, trouble-free than a folding stock.

I just think maybe this could be an option. I remember you were looking for a short fixed stock to keep it short and now it looks like you want to shorten it even more by being able to fold it. I think folding it where it can't operate isn't a good idea. Unless it's a range toy then you may as well do what Will says and break it down and save a bunch of money. But if you want this for real use than an under folder might suit you best. Works folded and doesn't change the girth/profile. Nice and compact.

It's just a picture I found online. It's a AR (most likely 300 BLK) with a pistol buffer tube and fitted with an under folder stock.

I just got a chinese knock-off folding stock adapter. It's installed on the rifle, but I have to modify the bolt carrier extension (it's too thick to fit in the rear of the bolt carrier).

It's a pretty cool addition, but kind of pointless. I got it just for fun and the fact that it was $33.

Have the law tatical.....great piece. Also have a quick disconnect barrel. Makes it small.

These things are neat and all but are they really worth the 10.5oz (as per gen 3 specs) it adds? I could maybe see using it on an sbr to allow packing it very discreetly in any backpack but still, 10.5oz, that's a lot!

If that is a prerequisite for you then fine, go for it. You could get a 36" backpack though. This item is not NYS legal anyway, correct?

The difference between a 27 or 28" and a 36" backpack is more than eight or nine inches. One looks like a backpack, the other does not.

NY legal with fixed mag.

Not really what you asked for, but a scar16 should fit the bill......i will measure the folded length.
It can be fired folded.

How about a stock that just slips onto your pistol buffer tube ?

Not collapsible, just completely removeable.

Or some super shorty stock on the pistol length buffer, and some snap attach extension to bring it to the length you want ?

As long as the barrel is over 16" and the overall is over 26" when in it's shortest configuration it *should* be GTG.

Cycled a few boxes perfectly. Bolt extension needs to be shimmed rearward a few thousandths though. The buffer is hitting the retainer pin due to small gap between buffer and bolt extension. Known issue per ar15.com - solution appears to be a 5/8" circlip.
