Former Minneapolis Police Officer Mohamed Noor was found guilty by a jury on Tuesday in the 2017 death of Justine Damond, an unarmed woman who was fatally shot shortly after she called 911 to report a possible rape.

The decision from the jury, who received the case on Monday, followed three weeks of testimony in the trial against Noor.

I am both surprised and relieved.

I do know that the Jury consisted of:

(4) White Men
(2) POC Women
(4) POC Men

No info as to whether any were Muslims.

If even ONE is Muslim, it will certainly raise my respect for at least SOME Muslims.

And if any were Somali as well - there may be hope for America.

Second-degree murder is an intentional killing, but is less serious than first-degree murder because some malicious factors aren’t present. Both first and second-degree murder in Minnesota have aspects of the “felony murder rule.” Felony murder is when you kill a person during the commission of another felony, such as rape or burglary.

How does that have anything to do with gun violence?

Because it advances a narrative.

The same reason the perp in a mass shooting is considered a victim of gun violence if he is killed or takes his own life, and is lumped in with his own victims, when being reported on. They want a high body count to improve the shock factor to the easily impressed.

In a statement, the Somali-American Police Association (SAPA) criticized the jury's decision.

"Officer Noor is the first police officer in Minnesota's history to be convicted of murder while in the line of duty," the statement read. "SAPA believes the institutional prejudices against people of color, including officers of color, have heavily influenced the verdict of this case. The aggressive manner in which the Hennepin County Attorney's Office went after Officer Noor reveals that there were other motives at play other than serving justice."
