The tease is real, and am already putting money aside every chance I get, especially if the pistol version gets approved....

I think its a double action, non-semi auto AR type whatever it is. Trigger pull retracts the bolt and fires the gun, so its not semi-auto. So all the fun parts can be on it.

So at shot show they did an interview where they said the current trigger pull is around 7lbs (IIRC) but that was still the prototype, and they are working on trying to get it around 3-5lbs (again IIRC)

They also are teasing a "pistol" version in the original teaser video.

And I believe they are shooting for $1,200ish price range

If they can get the pull down the $1,200 price range is not unreasonable IMO. I might buy one next year if they have descent reviews.

Honestly even 7-10lbs might not be bad. Think of a super nice worked over DA revolvers with 12lb triggers

If this takes off, and I hope it does, price should come down eventually. Especially when any patents involved expire. That said, I hope Franklin Armory makes a killing on this and continues to do the good work they do!

Regardless of SAFE or other irritating statutes, this is an innovative approach. Basically moving the revolver operating paradigm (ie. human powered, not relying on the energy from the propellant to operate the action) away from a revolving chamber fixed barrel setup. If this pans out, I don't see it as a range toy or restrictive state tool at all, but just another option in the safe. Bonus points if it turns out to be as mechanically robust as a good D/A revolver.

I'm socking away spare change for one...

I'm hoping that after they do pistol calibers they can continue the R&D and figure a way to maybe even do this in 5.56, which will be hard based on the case lenght of a rifle round vs pistol round

Dont get me wrong- I'm certainly interested. Particularly in the mechanics, the complexity and reliability thereof. If you can get an 8 lbs or less trigger running in this thing reliably without adding a bunch of potential points of failure beyond what a normal straight blowback AR9 has, I would be keen on this.

With that said, you're still looking at 10 round mags in NY, right? So basically what you gain via this is the full featuredness? That may or may not be worth it to some; currently, I'm on the fence as I've trained to the Thordsen so I'm good with featureless from the "do I trust my family's safety to this thing?" perspective.

Ok so there was some updated video from NRAAM

They plan to be out late this year.

Sound like they have a "single action" as well, as in you can manually cycle the bolt back it locks back and then use the single action trigger to drop the bolt to fire.


And here is what everyone is really interested in (besides price..) they are working on a goal trigger weight of 4.5lbs out of the box

More updates for months ago that i have missed.

Sounds like the magwell is going to be removable, and they will be eventually planning on releasing these for 9mm, .45acp and 10mm

Glock mags but later magwells to take Colt, HK, Sig (maybe more idk)

My theory. Case lenght and how much travel is needed for the bolt to travel with a pistol vs. rifle cartridge.

Along with that my other hypothesis is lock up. Because these bolts have rotating locking lugs, the pressure from a pistol cartridge even a 10mm is much lower than even a low end 223rem, and the rifle will need a stronger lockup, stronger lockup will mean more force the trigger pull will have to overcome to unlock the lugs making for a heavier triggers, mix that with the previous guess and now heavier and even longer trigger pull..

These are just my theories

If memory serves minimum acceptable pull on milspec (granted, for 5.56) is 5.5 lbs.

I think I can live with 7 pounds. My XDS had a 7 pound trigger and it was tolerable. This would be shouldered so the barrel wouldn’t move much.
