Are you a hunter? Most Hunters believe, like Indians did........THAT NO ONE OWNS THE LAND, BUT TATONKA, THE GREAT WHITE SPIRIT.
Are you a hunter? Most Hunters believe, like Indians did........THAT NO ONE OWNS THE LAND, BUT TATONKA, THE GREAT WHITE SPIRIT.
I know far more hunters that you might believe, at age 75.
Ever hear of gut shot deer running away??................. I NEVER HEAR JUST ONE SHOT..USUALLY 3 IN A ROW.
Typical:
I pull up to our farm road, 5 years ago, to a group of 4 guys, some old some new.
"What do you want, motherfucker?" all smoking, smirking........some no orange at all..just carharts.
I say:
You do not have permission to hunt here.
"Yeah well we been hunting here for years........farmer says its ok."
I am the farmer.
they protest.
The farmer across the street has posted signs up the road for a mile, I have a few.........We have grazing cattle and some horses.
"We built tree stands".....I say.. I saw them........
Now, I believe that people should have guns but the amt of land that is now posted, is because of assholes with guns, WITH SHITTY ATTITUDES, usually from the poorer side of town, or from Utica...............in my case.
Up north.........be wary...I usually go deep into the areas around Moose River Plains, Ice Cave mtn, North lake, South lake on State lands.......
Hunters do not hunt much, it seems. I am alone and can hear the jets overhead at 50,000 feet.
One group of hunters/gangs..... 10 of them down south, for drives and a hunt line.... who I have encountered ,all use Rem 742/7400 in 30-06.
None of them appear to have hunted much at all. Might be NYC guys.
Bow hunters believe that they are immune from all game laws or start dates.
Up near Osceola, State Lands exist, but many hunters with camps never get out except to Osceola Hotel, etc.
Guys I have hunted with in private camps, mostly stay in up northand go to the Turning Casino at night. Snow-mobilers with guns.
Again, sound shots are probably much more frequient that all might imagine and thank god most miss.
Men with guns are not Gods now...just the same character as before, but armed and dangerous..
The "RED MIST" .........buck fever..".shoot shoot shoot."
I have been a hunter and gun owners since I was 14.....back in the 1950's to start with my Marlin .22
The gun problem with hunters, is the "red mist"... the sound of a crunch, and a quick a shot. OOPS
Experienced shooters.................. like in Chicago, bag about 20 a week and they know their targets...unlike many hunters.
The possession of a gun by a young person, may quickly result in bad judgement that gets them barred for life from gun ownership.
A gun turns many from Casper Milquetoast to Big John....
Hunters can exhibit bad judgement....like a local girl , from the farm across the street.....who took a buck out of season with a bow, and put it on facebook.........
Barred for 3 years from a hunting license.
Gunshows are full of gun lovers, which is good, but a gun does not elevate your IQ +50 points...it may make you reckless with the gun, and the law...and hunting laws, and good practices like know your target and poaching............
Yep, Turning Stone Casino gets many hunters during CNY deer season, who leave the camp from the North and the South,.............leaving card playing and drinking to gamble..............hunting hours are few, especially if a gentleman's club is not far away....from the wife at home.
I hunt alone as I can be aware of the sounds, and seeing a valid shot.......... and not, "I DUN THOUD IT WAD A DEER.
Once up above South lake...I was on a logging road not far from the CARHART JACKET, left hanging on a tree years before.........for those who have hunted that area.....and suddenly a galloping of some large animal was heard going downhill, about 30 yards behind me............sounded like a horse.....I never saw it, but some would have shot at the sound........
so get over your egos.....and be safe.
The same thing happened in the town I live in a couple years ago. 2 guys were hiking through a field. A guy came out of the house next to the field with an AR15 and threatened to shoot them for trespassing on his property. It wasn't his, though, and they called the cops. One of the guys even had the presence of mind to record it on his cellphone. Nothing happened to the guy. This story doesn’t sound credible.
That’s a bit intense
Up in the Adirondacks, there are watchmen who monitor the Adirondack Club League's cabins.
Back in 2005 a disgruntled person set fire to their cabins.
Exclusive club.....like the 46'ers.
Arsonist Hits Adirondack Camps
Last month, an arsonist set fire to another historic hunting cabin owned by the Adirondack League Club in Old Forge. The Club owns more than fifty thousand acres in Hamilton and Herkimer Counties. The organization, with four hundred members, is...www.northcountrypublicradio.org
Farmers get angry with hunters....still
I hunt far away from most hunters and will not hunt my land..too dangerous.
A an alleged mafioso, bought 200 landlocked acres of land nearby. He has cameras in the trees already..........POSTED NO HUNTING ....and no legal access to the land................some associates of his were jailed for dumping asbestos in Herkimer county a while back, and possibly some Jersey bodies. He has a dozen cameras in the trees monitoring the site.
Hunters may get a warning from him, or a visit.........or not.
