From NY to heaven

Hi guys,

I moved to NY from Europe 3
years ago and I'm loving it. Hunting,fishing,sporting shooting...

So far I am only into long guns: O/U 20 ga, single shot 20ga, a very nice Stevens pump action and a couple rifles : a 30.06 Remington 700SPS and a .22LR Ruger...i do have a compound bow as well but I'm not very good at it hahaha

I am in Orange County and I am always looking for people to go hunting- specially bird (pheasant,quail,duck...) not a big fan of Turkey hunting though.

Law wise...you don't know what gun laws are in other countries!! Just to get a hunting license in Spain you need to go through all kind of crazy background checks, psychological evaluations and the National Police needs to bless your license to purchase a gun...not talking about the ammo control...

Anyway, very happy to be here and feeling NY like my home!

I've tried last year. I went to zone 4G (Stanford) to my friends property...not very good at climbing to the tree stands... I like better walking the forest, but not sure I'm going to be very successful at deer hunting by doing that. I am looking for cotton tail rabbit too. Haven't find any good spot yet

In spite of our gubbiner and state goobermint welcome to NY. NY has probably some of the best small game habitat and hunting anywhere. Weather may not be perfect but I think it's helpful to our ample small game.

I agree, altough i've enjoyed PA bird game a lot the last year. I am coming back this year as well

I'm a bird hunter myself. I highly recommend you try spring turkey. It is a very exciting hunt if you can find a bird to work. I'd put it down as my second-favorite hunt, right behind hunting grouse with an eager dog.

One of the admins knows I already have a crazy dog already ...but I'm really looking to get a second one- probably a germán short hair pointer (if the wife gives permission hahahaha) I'm done hunting with guides and their dogs, I want my own.
