They don't penetrate nearly as much as hardcast. They are light for caliber and recoil less. They penetrate hard barriers and continue on about the same path. I'm talking about the defenders, not the penetrators.

For humans? If so, why not a Federal HST that actually expands and penetrates to 16 inches?

There's a lot of fail in that video. There are plenty of hollow points tested from short barrels that aren't affected by clothing that penetrate adequately.

I don't know. The way I see it, I'd rather carry a defensive round that'll do the job reliably through barriers and expand in soft flesh.

Body armor is a whole different matter. If it does penetrate, then it has to reach vitals afterwards. To my internet knowledge, only a rifle can do that. With a pistol, the sure way is a headshot.
