There's more to prepping than just accumulating consumable supplies. For years I've been hitting garage sales and picking up manual hand tools, garden tools and manual saws to supplement my existing collection.

I have a collection of useful wire, hardware, pots, and pans. Picked up things for pennies if not for free.

My priority is to build a fence around any garden I plant to keep deer out. Garden will also attract meat into a collection point. I have a collection of 5 gallon buckets I plant tomatoes in, move them in/out of the garage to extend the growing season.

I have a collection of #10 food cans. Some I use for hardware sorting, others are cleaned and put in the garage attic for future use as buckets, stoves, raw material to invent with.

Picture wire is prime for animal snares around the garden. Free meat, zero bullets needed.

Try to think two seasons ahead, one year ahead, five years ahead.

Invent, use, trade.

I agree! I go on the prowl down here for the same types of things, especially manual hand tools. I have found a couple of braces with bits, great for making those holes if needed. Garden tools are always on my radar as well.

My buddy down here found a double wheel grinder sitting on a table, complete with the pulley in the middle. You can run that damn thing off of a bike to sharpen knives, tools, etc. That was a great score.

CB radios can usually be had for right around $10 or less.

I do the same thing. I have a storage full of stuff. I also started looking into buying spare parts for my firearms. I'm planning to keep it in a bug out bag.

Absolutely. I had mentioned in another thread about picking up some great stuff at Estate Sales as well. It is amazing the finds at these houses. I go to them as often as possible.
