And bashes others who questions police practices rather than understand the point and either agree or disagree. More than once is not enough. It has to be all the time going forward even if it’s a guy with a coke bag if one wants the constitution to mean anything. Because violating rights for one and not another is still violating rights.

Many do not know this fact but I was a bootleg, unarmed cop once. I worked for hospital police in nyc. We were peace officers in nyc. I saw many rights violations and participated in some as well. We gave out disorderly conduct summonses like candy. If someone said something snarky, discon and a search was conducted. We found a lot drugs, knives, and a gun once or twice that way. If someone was acting suspicious in the ER, discon. Many times regular NYPD would come in with a guy and dump a guy in our psychiatric emergency room so that they wouldn’t have to go to the tombs with him. That was overtime for us. Drinks on us at the local bar and vice versa for the overtime generation. We tuned up people that started resisting and continued to tune them up afterwards.

I say this because I’m not proud of our behavior. I’m not proud in participating in these violations. I’m sure that some of these discons and involuntary psychiatric detentions perhaps resulted in a no go on legal gun purchases and perhaps employment in the future.

I am man enough to admit this. I’m man enough to admit that someone’s life could have been ruined for questioning us when visiting hours were over and they raised their voice or or ignored us and didn’t move immediately.

I’m not proud of that. At the time they were just perps and lowlifes to me. I never once considered that we were abusing our authority. Now that I’m older, I know better and do not have a problem speaking out on it. And going forward if ever put in that situation again, I will never even think of doing it again or looking the other way when someone else does it.

What does an expiration of an Oath or lack thereof have to do with anything to fight tooth and nail about in this thread? A police officer who arrests someone is working and bound by an Oath. Whether it expires or not after he no longer is a cop is irrelevant and a useless point to argue. Let’s stick to the topic.

When one carries a handgun, I'll guess and say they are not high on the stupid scale. Takes a bit of knowledge to carry and do it correctly.
When one carries from state to state, they should have a better than average understanding of the laws they might encounter in other than their home state. Hell, there's even a phone app to help. Nope, if you can't take the time to do it right, maybe you shouldn't be doing it at all.

I disagree with that. While I do agree that they are stupid to not research so that they don’t end up in a cage, I do believe that they have a right to defend themselves.

I’m glad that you are starting to see that. You are correct. Actions taken by the politicians are indeed because of the police because without the police, their actions and laws would be meaningless and actions taken by the citizenry like carrying anyway where they aren’t supposed to wouldn’t matter if it were not for the police.

Again, you are missing the point. The point, for the last time, you either support the Constitution or you don't.

You talk about feelings and political leanings, it is impossible to take those two things out of the mix. The founding fathers knew that as well.
