Getting ready for 3 gun in New Bremen

so I have convinced the officers to host a 3 gun shoot in New Bremen at the fish and game club. Just got some target stands done up and painted. Waiting for targets I just ordered. We hope to have this be a monthly event beginning in the spring.

Will most likely hold an event in October to get people qualified to run it, (so I am not the only guy who knows how it is done).

I am sure I could convince @Gonzobird to post vids of the event.

A shotgun is not hard to come up with worst case is you borrow mine. You just need to just bring the slugs and shells.

all with that people do use pump shotguns, you don't need a semi-auto but it sure helps.

Guy used a KSG last month at HV3G and did better than I expected. Was the only guy who didn’t have to reload.

Was thinking about putting a red dot on AR for 3 gun, it is either that or get a 1-4 power scope. Haven't decided on a direction yet. I am building a beater AR just for this game. might even throw the Thorston stock I have laying in the bottom of my junk drawer on it so I can swap mags out.

I am using this scope. Works well for steel out to 250-300. At 50-100 you cant miss. I got the 300blk scope as I like the reticle better then the one for 5.56. it is a good scope for the money.

I have SCRs that I can use as well, plus I have a couple of MEAN loaders. I have some options, just trying to make a decision. Too many choices. Thanks for the link on the scope.

Scope is better IMO than red dot especially when going out beyond 100yds. Gets tough to see your targets with red dot when out 200 yds.

I have some 1MOA red dots which I will be pushing out to 300 yards to see how bad it is. Normally I don’t have an issue holding the 10 ring on the SR1 target at 100 yards with the Bushnell Holographic sights. I have time to play around to see what works.

when I am the match director, I make huge penalties for not hitting long range steal. I do this to keep people from throwing one round out and walking away. It also encourages people to shoot. It sucks to have a guy who can’t hit anything fire one round and allowing him to beat somebody who spent time shooting at three and 400 yards steal. ( if the penalties are stupid small like they are in HV3G if we were shooting for hundred yards deal I wouldn’t even shoot out loud pull the trigger and I would be that guy. )

That being said, if you have 15 to 25 second penalties for long-range steal, you will get crushed using a red dot, if you plan to shoot out to three or 400 yards. The guys with scopes will easily win.

I find red dots faster from 50 to 100. I find irons faster under 25 and over 225 compared to dots.

Now i run a 1-6. Using three gun nation rules of two hits anywhere on paper I don’t even look through the optic when I shoot under 25 I just showed you the rifle pull the trigger.

Let me know what your penalties are going to look like for this match, so I know how to plan. Ha ha

I informed them that the restrictions prevent the event from being run the way it is supposed to be run and I will take this event to another club that will run it the way it is supposed to be run.

Don’t bother running three going under those conditions. Waste of time nobody will go. Clearly they don’t understand how three go on runs. Clearly don’t understand that there’s rules and safety rules specifically made for the support.

It’s too bad most gun clubs are so fucking stupid.

My Gun Club tried to institute range safety officer is from the NRA. I took that class, what a joke. What outdated information. Total stupid idea that could never be integrated into our range safety officer for three gun event.

Use the rules and safety procedures designed for the sport of your participating in.

I am talking to the president of the lowville Fish and game club. He is very interested in holding it.

The club does need fresh blood.

On a side note I took one of my 38 supers and one of my 1911s to my gunsmith to get the optics installed.
