Anybody try the Ghost Gunner to mill 80% lowers into finished receivers?
Not so cost effective for one or two lowers, but....

Whoa! Do tell man! What do you like, not like? Do you have a GG1 or GG2? How is quality of finished milled lower?

No thanks. Lowers are so accessible and easy to find and I don't need 30 of them....

I think a large part of the justification is that these lowers don't need to be serialized.

Interesting I thought their spindles couldn't handle the deep mag well cut. Programming can be done relatively easy if you understand G-code.

I take it back. Yo do a magwell you pretty much need a broach (wire etc)

Mine is a gen 1. I just upgraded to a gen 2.

I have done 556 and 308. 1911 are next.

It is a fun toy.

Anodized lowers tear it up. Tears up its and wears the spinal prematurely.

Use raw. You get like 14:3

Other thanthatbe sure you get lowers that have the rear takedown fully machine so the upper fits.

Have tried any forged lowers (anodized or not)?
Or just billet?

You get 14 raw before bit wear out to 3 anodized before bit wear out.

I never talked about billet or forged. It wont make a difference for wear items. You may not be able to attach a billet to the jig based on geometry of the billet lowers.

Use milspec forged lowers or make your own jig

There are 100s of open source programs available for this machine to do all kinds of stuff.

Doing the magwell requires a special machine.

I work with a full blown CNC machine and occasionally write code for them. I have yet to ask if I can mill lowers there on a Saturday. I'm afraid to let the cat out of the bag because I think a lot of my coworkers would want to come in and mill their own also.

You should probably ask to Mill on Sunday, early am Monday, say 2am while the world is asleep!

True but I work with enough like minded people they would show no matter what time it is.

I would not do that in there with anyone else around. That's a great way for somebody let the cat out of the bag and have possible issues (like a build party which is now illegal) Also, you don't want to leave the program lying around so they can run it by themselves.

I send them out to anodize or i cerekote them.

Just to be clear, none of my lowers available for sale are made on this machine. Although, I made one of my select fire weapons...... I bought this as a toy many moons ago.

Agreed that's why it hasn't happened and very well why I may never ask. How does that work sending them out to be coated? Just like shipping a firearm to a manufacture for repair?

Anodizing companies will probably want an ffl. They isually have a small batch fee of around $300.

Many firearms not have a serial number and the ATF has given instructions on how to deal with that. That does not mean that they will do it for you. Some of them get real weird about that kind of stuff.

You can send them out for Cerekote to a local place that will probably do it no problem again they should be following the law, but some do and some don't.

Ever anodize here? They are an FFL.

Send directly to them yourself (civilian with no FFL), they send it back to your home.

They almost got everyone where they want them, afraid to do anything for fear of running afoul. Is ridiculous... Years ago, you did what you did, no worries, and no lunatics running around, well except for that guy on the water tower and that Son of guy...! Hahahaha

Best thing to do is research your needs and keep it off the internet. Just my opinion, but my tin foil hat has a directional receiver finder (StingRay Sniffer) and they're all over the place anymore ; )
