Yeah you can get em pretty cheap if you buy 200 at once. Just make sure the source is good. Or even 100 packs I think are pretty good cost wise.
You can use them anything. There is no "you must" shave a certain way. If you're shaving in the shower then maybe you want something like Cremo shave cream -- it doesn't foam much, but it'll stay slick longer in the shower cause it's not meant to foam as much. Easily found at Walmart, Target, etc.
Personally, I'd suggest just going with something more traditional and shaving right after the shower. Prorasso is pretty solid cream wise, with just a basic brush. Especially if you like menthol -- nice and cooling. Not really great for the shower, but the stuff is good for the price you pay for it, and is a solid performer.

Tallow based soap, and enough to last you half a decade right there. Nothing fancy smell wise, kinda smells like classic bathroom or citrus like soap smell. Almost borderline industrial. But the performance shaving is definitely amazing bang for your buck.

Your choice of brush, but I suggest Omega 10048 boar hair since it's cheap, effective, and over time it softens. Good for face lathering.
Aftershave, nothing special. Alum block or witch hazel, or both, and -- despite being cheap is pretty good -- Nivea Aftershave Balm. Stuff is $5.99 in Target. Probably cheaper than even amazon. Honestly despite being one of the cheapest balms I own, it's probably my favorite.

Sharper blade means less passes, and less irritation. There are limits to how close of a shave I can get without it feeling like shit -- so I don't go for ultimate smoothness / against the grain. I shave with, and I shave across. That's good enough for me. A couple passes, on good days, and that's as good as it will get. Maybe a single pass if I'm in a hurry.
Also the 23c is the long handled version of the 33c. Personally, I prefer long handled razors to the shorter, traditional, style. So if you want that as well, go with the 23c. The 33c is identical head wise -- just longer handle on the 23c.
This, along with other companies like Dicks, only proves that when a company tries to be WOKE, they lose big in the end.

A lot of love for feather blades in this thread. Personally wasn’t a fan of them, have been using Wilkinson Sword and they have served me right. I felt like I was getting 1 shave out of feathers before they were going dull and even then felt like they were pulling my beard more than cutting it.
Seconding Prorasso for a shaving cream, stuff feels real good on the skin.
Overall I’ve found that safety razors are a much better shaving experience, closer shave and less irritation. There is a learning curve though

Wahl makes good shit -- get one of the big ones with the blades that you screw on to replace. Just oil it with whatever to keep em moving -- I still have the original oil bottle they gave me and it's lasted a while.
Workhorse barbershop grade, and cheap to replace. There are a lot of different models of the "big" style that plug in, but they're all basically the same, and cost around the $15 - 20 range for a basic set.
The things vibrate like Rossie O'Donnel's vibrator though, so you're in for a ride trying to hold onto it. But it works, and they sell parts for it.

As far as Electric Beard Shears go, my son uses Remington and Conair. Either is cheap and seem just fine.
DO NOT BUY HARBOR FRIEGHT ELECTRIC SHEARS. They suck - I had to return them. Shocking, eh ?
Professional Barber Shears (and animal shears) are powered by ROTARY Electric Motors, not the Reciprocating Buzz-Buzz crap.
Yet the Remington and Conair are cheap buzzers, and they seem pretty good.

Kinda -- Proctor and Gamble acquired them. P&G owns a lot of stuff, so I wouldn't associate everything P&G with the bullshit the Gillette division is pulling. Astra is owned by P&G, but not the Gillette division specifically afaik.

First shave. Expected to look like I got into it with a cougar...and not the right kind.
Not bad at all other than I couldn't finish shaving in the shower as it was too difficult to shave upper lip and chin area.
Why do the edges stick out of the razor?
