Anyone have experience with a Glock 41 gen4 mos? Good/bad? Saw one on clearance and thought about picking it up.

I did read about the MOS, seems like there are issues with ejection brass and red dots.

I have a G34 MOS and a friend has the G34, G41, and G40 with dots no ejection problems to date. Shells can bounce off the dot but not really a problem imo.

How do you like your Glock? My wife shopping for a revolver has sparked my interest in another pistol. I like a 1911 but I was thinking I could get into the gssf competition. They hold a shot not to far away from me.
I do like my 34 very much. The S&W 5 inch is great too but with the loaded chamber indicator on top it would be a challenge to put a dot on it. The 34 mos pistols are available used relatively often and can be a great deal. I do some USPSA with it and would not hesitate to get another. It shoots good, any accessory is readily available, and the mags can be found cheep.

I figure I’ll update. I purchased a Glock g40 and my wife picked up a Glock g43. I also picked up a Leupold Deltapoint Pro.

Really thinking about gssf now. They hold a shoot not far away plus u get discounted guns. Win/win
So Gabe Suarez did a whole write up about the MOS AMD why it is not a solid choice (he is speaking specifically as a duty/carry gun) due to the mounting plates finding the correct suppressor height sights to match up is not as easy as a traditional milled slide, many people have had their red dots actually fly off during recoil and a few other issues.
Again that is what he (and many other prominent names in RDM handgun community have found) and applied to a duty / edc application. But for a range toy / hunting / gamer gun those issues are less of a concern.
(Side not Suareze isn't anti factory pick your flavor of the week red dot milling, he has mentioned that the S&W C.O.R.E. is a much better system that doesn't seem to have the same issues as the MOS, same with FN on their .45, and he also is a Glock fanboy and not much or a M&P fan so in my mind that negates any real bias)

With that being said if it's that good of a deal and later on you do not seem to like the MOS and have settled on one specific red dot Suarez international Is now offering a MOS fix which is remilling for a dedicated optic

I read that when I first was interested in a Glock. Didn’t know what the mos was and was looking for reviews. The g40 will be a hunting/range pistol. I also read that a lot of issues were from people using the wrong screw to mount the red dot. There are other options of mounting the optic but i think I’ll see if I get hit in the face with my red dot lol. Another issue I read was the optic was getting beat up by the ejected brass.

The rmr seems like a pita to change the battery. I also wanted the small mos dot.

I also looked at this. There were other mounts similar to this that used the front mount and bolt that replaces your trigger pin. I wasn’t to keen on the trigger pin replacement. I am afraid it may enlarge the hole. I really want to go back and forth from iron sights to red dot easily but I don’t know if that will happen.

Honestly it's not that bad especially with a battery life of 2 years (I change it once a year just because)

I understand. Good to read any reviews about anything you are interested in. I was looking for different mounting options before I bought my Glock. I do like the saddle type mounts but the lower mounts require you to remove your rear sight.

I did but the trigger pin bolt worries me. With the weight and recoil, could it enlarge the trigger pin hole?
I didnt think that's how that one secured on? But it's essentially a gisslie product so it should be good all the time

The alg6 uses the trigger pin hole. There is another company that makes one similar to the alg6. The link that I posted above, there mount doesn’t use the trigger pin hole. I think I just need to see if I get hit in the face with my red dot lol.
I think much of the MOS issue is that guys are getting them mounted correctly. Screw length seems to be the issue, which really shouldnt be. If you are smart enough to handle a pistol you should be smart enough to figure out if you are using the right length screws. I see no reason to hesitate using a MOS for carry/duty use. I have used my 34 MOS quite a bit at this point without issue, as well as first hand experience with G41, G35, and G40 that all have a lot of rounds through them. The G40 only gets full power hand loads so even heavy recoil does not seem to be an issue.
Yes, brass does catch the body of the dot and chips the finish. I would guess this would happen on a pistol that was custom milled too, unless it was done moving the dot to the back of the slide removing the factory dove tail. To me not a big deal since the glass is not getting scratched up.
The upside to the MOS is if you were to decided you didnt want the dot it comes with the cover plate and is finished nice where as a custom milled slid would have and ugly gap. Also it accepts all common dots where the custom job is dot specific. Lastly, if you wanted to sell the pistol people would likely be less concerned. The up charge for the MOS is about $100 VS about $150 to have it milled. Now if I had a Glock that was not an MOS I wouldnt get rid of it to get the MOS, I would have the slide milled.
The last thing I would be concerned about is having a higher likelihood of the optic flying off with a MOS, even the custom milled slide option uses 2 screws to attach the optic.

I plan on mounting my deltapoint pro after I shoot it a few time. Gives me time to find some good hunting ammo.

Lots of good choices for ammo, but a lot of factory stuff is watered down. Save your brass you might want to reload for it.

I did read that about factory ammo, a lot of it is watered down. I was looking at underwood or some Hornady ammo. How was the g40? I heard that the recoil isn’t too bad in the g40.I shot a G40 tonight also, but no pics
