I've had a 19 for over 20 yrs.Love that gun.I just bought a G43X,its the little brother to the 19,IMHO.The 19 was always easy to conceal,even with a t shirt in the summer,the 43X is even easier.Shoots real good for a sub compact,a little snappier than the recoil on the 19,but not bad at all.

I used to be that way for many years until very recently. Then I I bought a Gen 5 19 and discovered I can shoot Glocks better than any other pistol I have tried. Go figure, what can you do?

I CC my 19 a lot also but since switching jobs that allows me to carry at work now I find myself carrying the Shield nearly daily. The 19 is just a bit too cumbersome to IWB while driving, it always gets snagged up on the seat when I enter or leave my truck, sometimes ruining the belt clips on my holster. The Shield is like its bot even there.
In my downtime I usually carry the 19 though.
I am thinking of getting something like a Galco Miami Classic shoulder holster to alleviate this problem.

I am torn on front serrations, i used to love them, but got used to no e being a glock guy.

I like the gen 4 19 with the gray frame. Ideally, i think id like a gen 5 19 with gray frame and front serrations.

It is. No argument there. So is my rusted hammer that works reliably. That is all one can ask for unless chromed out hammers with designs on the handle are important to one.

I do on the 19, but honestly its not a huge deal either. I would definitely rather it bit be there. It does act as a snag point for the magazine in a reload.

I have come to somewhat appreciate its simple, utilitarian appearance. It's the rare consumer item that looks exactly as it provides.

Pod needs a Glock 26 but he doesn’t know it yet since he hasn’t tried it. If he can conceal a Shield, he can conceal a 26. I concealed an XDS which is the same size as a Shield just the same as a 26. We are talking less than a quarter inch in thickness which does not matter if in a holster.

Just saying. Wish you were closer to try it out.

That was just a convenient pic I found. Looks like all the Gen 5s with the forward serrations also lack the grip cutout.

Well I still suggest getting a frame is a decent option.

bigtexoutdoors gets gen 5 frames in fairly regularly, and will even do email notifications if you want.

The gen 5 G19MOS (guaranteed no U-cut out) is $219 (includes the OEM lower parts) plus the shipping is iirc flat rate $8, add FFL transfer fee (not sure what yours would charge) so we will say high side $30.. and you have your non combat cut Gen 5 G19 for half of what a new Gen 5 complete would cost.. then figure in maybe sending the slide out to get milled for front serrations if you want them and you still come out ahead

And I do belive the non MOS models are still being done with that combat cut, and the only ones that come factory with the front serrations and non cut grip are the MOS models and the G45. But the standard 19/17 will have the cut and no FS.. again iirc

The only reason I would ever buy a glock is because I love to customize things I own. It's one of the reasons I still build my own computers. It's why I like bikes. But it's just so hard to get past its initial look of a brick compared the to sexy curves and styling of a sweet sweet 1911.

The brilliance of it is people do it and justify it as "part of their system" due to magazine cross comparability and aftermarket overlap between their various guns.

They change the guns enough but not too much where they lose comparability between holsters, mags etc


It looks like this new g17 is just a long slide g45.

Well I always was prejudiced about the Glock grip angle myself. However my primary basis of comparison for the Glock 19 is the Walther PPQ which I have owned for more than 2 years now and I have well over 5k rounds through it. I like the Glock 19 better and the PPQ is supposed to be the best polymer striker fired gun there is. I find the Glock to shoot much flatter than the PPQ which I consider to be more flippy than a 9mm of its size ought to be.
With the Glock I can shoot a rapid string to POA-POI without much effort. The PPQ, in my hands, has far more dispersion in rapid fire.

It might just be that I am really starting to work hard on my pistol craft lately and improve my marksmanship. I have always considered myself as a rifleman first and pistols to be these little compromised pygmy things that existed solely because I can't carry a rifle with me everywhere. So I have never spent much time on pistols and in fact never owned one the whole time I lived in NYS because the state made ownership too much of a hassle. But lately I have been knuckling down on pistols and have found that whenever I make a significant advance in my ability to be very satisfying. Much of those advancements have been on the Glock. Perhaps I should go back and give the PPQ another chance.

past couple of years I have working with my pistol skills. I am more than happy with my glocks. I have a xds, I should break that out and see how I do. It’s been years since I shot it. See if there is a difference.
