Your inexperience is showing. There is no apparent or obvious correlation between strong opinions or being correct. They can be mutually exclusive. It is clear to me are out of your league on this topic, misinformed (e.g. the Conservative nomination has preceded the GOP nomination for Gov Comp, & AG), illogical, and it is not worth continuing playing in the mud.

Last response (well almost). WRONG. The Conservative nomination has preceded the GOP nomination for Gov, Comptroller, and AG in the past. Google can be your friend if you don't get off your butt and attend nominating conventions. In most of those races, the Conservative candidate won a contested GOP nomination fight. The tail wagged the dog. Stop being uniformed and LAZY before you waste our time. Someone so informed should remember Herb London or Pierre Rinfret.

As for Larry Sharpe, if the voters of NY State do not know who he is; that is 100% his fault. He has had a piss poor showing in this race because he is a piss poor candidate.
If he is not willing to really get his name out there, if he is not willing to put his message out there strongly; he will not get support through voting.

The missing link here is the NY Senate. If the Dems win an outright majority, and it is very possible they will, you will absolutely see more gun control bills, and Cumho will sign them. Molinaro may have provided a roadblock for an insane Assembly+Senate, but he has no realistic chance at this point. Doesn't mean I'll stay home on election day.

Since the Conservative Party was founded on 1962 I believe they have not opposed a sitting Republican NY Governor, AG, or Comptroller but in the same time they have had 21 Conservatives for a major post in NY who was NOT also the Republican nominee in NYS. (Major post being Governor - 4, Attorney General - 4, Comptroller- 4, or NYC Mayor-9). You also said in the last 3 decades or more. So there are 20 more examples if we play by your rules.

Above and beyond the 21 examples of Republicans and Conservatives having different candidates in a major NY race there is the time we got rid of Mario Cuomo.
In 1994 the Conservatives selected Herb London to run for Governor against Mario Cuomo when the Republicans selected George Pataki. In order to get rid of Mario Cuomo, John Faso gave up his Republican nomination for Comptroller and give it to London so Pataki could defeat Mario. London agreed and gave up his Conservative nomination for Governor and accepted Faso's gift of the Republican Comptroller nomination. If it wasn't for Faso (he would likely have won the Comptroller race in 1994 and Pataki would not defeat Mario Cuomo with votes being split by a London candidacy), we would have had Mario Cuomo until Mario died. FUAC has never forgiven Faso to this day. FUAC.
Pataki gave us assault weapons ban that continued after federal ban expired. I wouldn't brag about him.

Not bragging about George. Never did. I am not a huge Pataki cheerleader but G. Pataki was a much much better choice for NY than any Cuomo. That is why Faso made the sacrifice in 1994.

Because the Republicans in the Senate had a sound majority from '82 to '94 and did not cave, does not make Mario Cuomo pro 2A. Mario was also horrific on NY in terms of Taxes, Business Regulation, Budgets, Crime, utility costs, size of goverment and Jobs. The rotten maggot infested apple did not fall far from the tree. He's a piss poor candidate, but not because he's not working hard, willing to get his name or message out. I've seen him a couple of places locally and I can assure you he is 100% in, but in for what? Peeling a few votes off from Molinaro. He's a fringe candidate in a fringe party with fringe views. Example: His solution for public education is ending at grade 10. Now do you really think that will fly? Put aside your personal feelings. Obviously he has the gun issue right. And Molinaro is not a strong candidate on guns. But, clearly he's not worse than Cuomo.
Point being, we upstaters lost the opportunity for a better candidate in primary season. Molinaro is our alternative to Cuomo now. If R's and gun owners can't mobilize behind Molinaro, then we can look forward to another 4 years of Cuomo.
Sadly for our state, all signs point to 4 more years.
No new gun laws is a positive. How it comes about, doesn't matter to me. Single issue advocacy. This was my main point here. Electing Pataki turned out to be a loss for gun rights.

It was the Senate Republicans that stopped Mario's (even more restrictive) gun control laws for 12 years. It was Senate Republicans that caved on the compromise 2000 gun control bill sucumming to a shift in NY public opinion following a series of school shootings and the LIRR mass shooting lobbying. So you say this would not have happened if Mario Cuomo was Governor? Bullshit. Even you know better and are bloviating since no one can be that wrong or stupid. You lost a discussion, reluctantly admitted it, let it go like a man.
